Barter in economic collapse

So the guy that predicted the financial crisis of 2008 with Fanny and Freddie and GM and the rest is now predicting that the US dollar will soon no longer be accepted as the standard for commodities around the world - (or something to that effect - I'm not a financial type guy.) Anyway, he claims when that happens it's going to be doomsday for the US as prices on everything will skyrocket and there will be mass chaos etc etc. I couldn't make it to the end of the rather long somewhat very boring video, but I think he's trying to get people to buy precious metals maybe (maybe someone can make it to the end and enlighten us)

So let's say it happens - I'm thinking it would be best to have plenty of goods to barter with if money is useless. Stuff like gasoline, canned food, ammo, water, etc. Specifically what type of ammo would you all think would be most barterable? .22? 12 gauge buck? 9mm? .223? What other stuff would you stock up on if you knew this guy was right? Am I paranoid? Should we all just eat, drink, and, merry and not worry? Here's the link to the video. Good luck watching it all. I need to say ammo. Solves 2 of your problems: food (hunt) and protection.
