beach thread 2009...

January 31. Tiny and Cain brave the winter cold...

And my favorite - plane advertising local strip joint...

Ahhhh the beach. Summer will be here in no time.

We'll have something to grill up at the beach if Phil decides he wants to hide out for six more weeks. Ground hog, whistle pig, it's just another form of bacon.

Those pics are just plain mean to those of us that live where there is snow.

i prefer snow =D

especially doing commercial roofing for 2 years straight (before going to my apprenticeship to get laid off)..

dont get me wrong.. i love the beach and everything.. but it gets hot and muggy here in kokomo.. most the time with like 90% humidity when it gets about 95 degress (it sucks)

but then again, in the winter its like -5 and over a foot of snow sometimes.. but hey, indiana has some of the weirdest weather

We usually go down to Oceanside, but I recently found out Cain's got access to Camp Pendleton so we may be trying the beach there soon.

Tourist don't get around to the back side of the island, which is mostly a national park anyway. Lameshur is so remote, and the snorkeling is really great there and at watermelon. God that is a sweet place.

Installment 2

February 4.

78*, light winds (3mph) from the NNW.
The surf was clean and very small today.

We’ll see a dramatic change in our surf and conditions by the end of the work week as a solid new W swell moves in along with some inclement weather.

We went and visited Stonehenge also.

And, tiny kept up safe with the construction of a stone wall.

And she tended to the ever growing shell collection.

Mouse helped gather rocks and shells.

Here is the view of the pier from Stonehenge.

All that wall building tuckered tiny out.

And here are the fruits of our "shell hunting" labor.

Yeah, that's over 100 unbroken Sand Dollars.

The water was warmer and the beach was practically empty. We had a spectacular time. And we scored a killed poncho liner as a beach blanket that doesn't collect sand. Great day!!

Usually, you're lucky if you find one or two. I'm assuming it's the time of year and the way the tides are going. They were everywhere and they kept washing in. All you had to do was wait and watch. You could see them rolling in the water.
