Beauty and the Beast

What a difference a year makes.

Last year these two were in the garage.

This year it's these two.

The "Beauty and the Beast" title still applies.

Oh well, the current pair are a lot more practical.

But what a big comfortable hippo it is.

We also ordered it with the package that included the hydraulic body motion control. No sway bars.

Is it a sports car? No. But it handles corners a lot better than most, if not all vehicles in it's class.

That Cobra is the only vehicle I have ever missed after getting rid of it.

A Cobra was my dream car. Drove one when I was 16 and lusted after one ever since. By the time I was ready, the originals were way out of my price range, so I went with a Superformance replica that is built and assembled in South Africa. They ship the car here minus the engine and transmission so they can get around all the federal and state regulations.

The Cobra was my daughters wedding present to myself. They got a down payment on a house as a wedding gift, and I got the Cobra. Worked for both of us.

Owned it for 5 years and put over 21,000 miles on it, and it would have been more except for the crappy weather here in western Washington.

My wife and I took a month long vacation in it 3 years ago. Left Seattle area and drove to Lake Tahoe. Spent a week there and then headed to Carmel. After 4 days there we just spent the rest of the time heading home on highway 1 and 101.

Best vacation I have ever had. Only averaged 8.5 miles per gallon, but it was worth every penny of gas.

Here is another picture of it at the bed and breakfast place we stayed at in Portland on our first night of the trip.

And if you are interested in what sucked down all of that gas.

Yeah, that looks like it would have quite the appetite! Beautiful piece of machinery, though!
