Bed liner your jeep?

There was a jeep behind me today on the way to work and the whole thing had bed liner on it. It looked pretty good too. It made it look like the jeep had a five o'clock shadow. As if the jeep had been busy all day riding trails and didn't have time to shave.

I was thinking about this. Saw a pic of a guy who lined his grill, looked really good. The one you saw had the whole body lined? I'd love to see pics of this...

Yeah the whole body had it. It was a clean lookin jeep. Tube bumpers, bfg a/t tires, lift kit. The usual.

It will diminish the resale of the Jeep if you bedline the exterior.

Bedlining the whole thing is a little over kill. I was thinking of bedlining the grill and rocker panels because those are the areas that tend to get the paint chipped and scratched the most. But the whole thing thats just crazy.

I would NOT recommend doing the exterior of your Jeep.
Just like Inferno Girl said, it will ruin the value of your Jeep,
and once it's on, there's no turning back, your stuck with it.
In a few years it will look like crap.

I was considering doing the same thing to a truck that I have
until I saw this Monstrosity at a Line-X shop:

This is how your Jeep will look after 8 years.
Hell...it might even look that way sooner,
I just know that 8 years is how long this truck has been coated with that garbage.
And this picture really doesn't capture how terrible it looks in person either.
After seeing this truck,
I won't even consider spraying just my bed with this junk.

This might be an okay thing to do to the inside of your tub
where the sun is not going to be so focused on it,
and all the mud and dirt will not be getting caked on and embedded into it,
but you might want to re-think doing the exterior.

Don't get me wrong.
I think that stuff looks great new.
I wouldn't have even considered doing it if it didn't.
I'm really glad I got to see what the end result will ultimately be though.

Here's a new bed.
Quite a big difference, eh?
...and they say with the extra UV coating it will retain it's original look.
That Ford has the UV coating on it,
hmmmm....the proof is in the pudding I guess.

Yeah, not lookin at doing the whole thing, but I still think the grill looks pretty good lined and may do that to avoid chipping.

I'm gonna do my whole outside one day. Me thinks that truck was just a bad job or fluke.
It's been a few years and the interior of my jeep has not faded and is almost always exposed. And if it fades..meh..it fades

My son & I were talking about this yesterday. I could see it serving a purpose on an off road vehicle...but still wouldn't do it personally. The strangest thing I've ever seen anyone do the bedliner job on was an otherwise clean Mustang GT...talk about stupid!
