I had a burger at this place called the Blue Talon in Williamsbug VA. It had a fried egg on it, one of the best burgers I've ever had.

Gordon Ramsay has a burger restaurant (BurGR) at Planet Hollywood. Never been but I'd guess they blow anything fast food out of the water.

5 Guys is good, but not the best. Easily beaten by:

Umami Burger in Las Angeles. They have a burger with pork belly ground into it, and it's amazing

&

Engine No. 9 in St Petersburg, FL. Their "southern style" is topped with chorizo, corned beef hash, pico, and guacamole. It sounds gross, but is perfect!

5 Guys is good. Red Robin is good. But they do not have any in my area. What I like about Red Robin is the endless fries. Those big thick ones are my favorite. But for my buck I will take a Whataburger. Something about that doughy bun and getting out of there for under 5 dollars. They do not even have a Whataburger in my area. That is the problem of living in a city known for food. Chains do not like to come here because it is too hard to compete with the local eats. So I look forward to traveling to taste the exotic chain food that beckons me. Oh yeah, I had a bacon cheese burger for the first time at a Waffle House. It rivaled the rest. Excellent!

For chain restaurants, 5 Guys wins for me. But, they still can't match what you can get at many, many "mom-n-pop" restaurants around the country.

Non fast food chain... Red Robin
Fast food chain... In n out (animal style)
Standard restaurant... Shedd cafe. Its a little mom n pop cafe in the middle of nowhere. I get the"Colossal" 1/2lb fresh made patty with ham/ bacon/ gooey melty cheese/ lettuce / tomatoe// pickles/ served on a kaiser roll. So friggin good

Kobe burgers all the way. Doesn't matter where from, you just can't beat a burger that melts in your mouth. Otherwise five guys is good too.

I recently ate a Hardees burger, after I noticed they are coming back to Kansas. They put a few restaurants on the Turnpike. It was very good. I was impressed.

Am I the only one against 5 guys? Their only good thing to me at least, are the cajun fries.

Checkers hands down for the meatiest, sloppiest, baconest burgers.

I wasn't listening to your argument until you mentioned bacon.... now I will have to compare them... I will report back in approximately nine days with my findings.

9 days allows me to get home... eat said burgers simultaneously, have a minor heart attack... recover, and post.

I've always ranked five guys and red robin up pretty high when it comes to chain restaurants, but one of my favorite places is this little family owned pub near where I grew up. Place called mccevers pub. Good food for sure

Fast food. Whataburger's chop house cheddar joint.

Local joint in Niceville, FL called Benny's BBQ has the best cheeseburger imaginable, even better when you drench it in their mild BBQ sauce.

And a little slice of home, place called Maid-Rite in Greenville, OH. Not a burger but the best damn sandwich you'll eat in your life, I could go for about 8 cheese-rites with everything and extra pickle right now.
