Anybody have any experience with really big power inverters like a vector 3000watt model?
Or would i be better off with a 5500watt generator. This would be for when the power goes out.
flowmaster40,hpd30 with aussie locker,currie upper joints,4.88's, lca skids,chromo shafts,vanco brakes,d35 with super 35 and arb locker,re 4.5" springs,currie arms,re front uppers,Re shocks in back,walkerevens shocks up front, Re track bars with currie jj joints,anti rock,ss brake lines,re rear sway bar links,jks 1.25" bl and mml,bfg 35x12.5 km2's,craiger soft 8's,ome steering stabilizer,currie hd steering,rockmen front bumper,emp tank skid,lots more too.
I'd vote generator. 3kw would be a huge drain on even a large truck. The AC sine wave is computer generated on those units and the top of the wave is cut off and will cause over heating of some 120v appliances. They work good in a pinch but are not good for continuous duty. The reliability of a gas gen will be better and no impact on your vehicle's electrical system. Gas operated gens are pretty cheap nowadays.
Another vote for a genny. I used a large inverter on my semi and it would suck 4 large deep cycle batteries down pretty good just fixing dinner in the microwave.

Arguing with a truck driver is like wrestling with a pig in mud, eventually you realize the pig enjoys it.
I have a Harbor Frieght 1000. It works fine for things like power saws and such. I've ran an electric fan all day and night off it at my buddys cabin. Thats with 2 optima yellow tops. At 6 am the low battery sensor kicked on and shut the fan off. Nice but then it Beebs to let you know to shut it off. After a night of drinking, the Beeb seems pretty loud. LOL
Anything bigger for the home, I would recomend a generator. We have two at the cabin. There just noisy. I've heard you can get a better mufler system for them to quiet them down!?.
