Bummer for Hummer???

GM announces big changes to deal with higher gas prices

By Bradley C. Bower, AP

GM Chairman Rick Wagoner announces big changes at a press conference before Tuesday's shareholder meeting.

Staff and wire reports:
General Motors is responding to swiflty changing consumer demands for more fuel-efficient vehicles by increasing production at some plants, closing others, and exploring whether to sell its once-beloved Hummer brand.

Why don't they shut down some plants and DECREASE production at the rest? I doubt there is a high demand for those lame ass wannabe things.

And they should sell the company to Toyota, I'd like to see them put a Prius engine in one

Yeah! That way bi-sexual men who feel the need to over-compensate would have a viable choice in transportation!

I also heard that Hummer cancelled thier plans to completely redesign and revamp the H2 platform in the the upcoming years. It really does suck becuase (and I know this will be an unpopular opinion) I like Hummers.

And the Hummers that have the Prius engine will be offered in baby blue, pink and lavender. And they will be just fabulous!

I've got all the funny out of my system for one day

Jeep should follow suit, because the Jeep has gone downhill since 2006.

I believe GM is closing a plant in Ohio that primarily makes suv's.
While I am seeing less on the road, they are not going anywhere here. One thing to tell people to take public transportation, walk, bike or drive a deathtrap if you live in the city but out in the boonies folks still want their big 4WD's. My hubs put it so nice to me when I was having a guilt/idiot trip about trading in my fuel efficient car for the jeep, he said I can pee away 20 bucks in a heartbeat and all that is is the extra gas to drive something I really like, not to mention I may break even anyway as the jeep shouldn't get the wear and tear that a car would on these crap roads plus I can get myself to work in a IL snowstorm.

I am seeing a ton of hummers on the road lately, mostly the H3's. Which I think are fugly as heck. I like the big pre bling original ones.

ROFL, That was my response to my kid some 10-12 years ago. I was driving down the road with my son, who had to be about 7 at the time, we pass a hummer.

"Mom, when I grow up I want a hummer"

"Most men do" was my reply as I tried not to laugh my ass off.

Yea! They have to buy a Hummer in order to get one...and usually they end up paying WAY too much for both.
