I saw it, but it doesn't matter if he had pine-tar, a file, and a slingshot. It wouldn't have improved the cards play last night. The strike zone being 4" off the plate hurt the cards worse than if he was doctoring the ball. I won't call "cheat", history with that organization can speak for itself...

As for Lester, I don't care if he was throwing an Acme gyro ball. That had no bearing on the fact the Sox scored 8.
Go Sox!

C'mon salty, next time move an inch to the right brother! That was horrible, 2 errors and now 2-4 we're playing like the cards last night! Why do these Cubs players keep switching teams?!

yeah Breslow, and as the announcers said, so many games are lost because of pitchers throwing to bases

Nah, your skipper has enough sense to pull a pitcher that's gettin lit up.
I'm not sure why Matheny left Wainwright in last night unless he was thinking that everyone else was so bad it didn't matter anyway...

Happens at every level. We call it jelly arm for our 12u players. Pitching and infield throws are completely different.

growing up as a 2nd baseman then in my 12u team being a starting pitcher as well as a 2nd baseman, I completely know, it is a whole other world!

I ended up playing 2nd and left field when I began playing with the National Adult Baseball Association.

And yes, I'm a left handed 2nd baseman

That was a bit nicer turnout. Hated seeing the errors on the BoSox side though. At this level and this late in the season (ie WS), those mistakes should not be happening. And those mistakes have now cost BOTH teams.

Fortunately, St. Louis was the beneficiary this time around.

Wacha and Lackey both pitched VERY well. Both made a few mistakes - Wacha's pitch to Ortiz (though I loved seeing that kid get the ball! ), and Lackey's letting multiple Cards on base.

THESE are the kind of close games I love to watch, but drive me batty! I just didn't want to see another 4 game sweep!

Kudos to the Cards for a well-played game (even Kozma had a few great plays!!) Kudos to the Boston area for an excellent Game 1 and 2 spirit!

As as for *cough*Pujols*cough*, how do you think the Cards got Wacha? Seeing how Pujols has or hasn't performed for the Angels, I think the Cardinals made the best decision, though there are still some Cardinal homers that whine about the choice. I personally thought it was great for both teams, though I suspected Pujols would start a decline. His heart doesn't seem to be in it like it was in St. Louis. Now whether or not he was juicing, I have no clue, but he never failed a drug test (but neither did Lance Armstrong)...

A better team? Is that why the red sox had the best record in baseball?

I love the close games too, and I'm hoping we see a Game 7. Definitely makes it championship worthy. And the bonus for me (this time) is that I'm not emotionally invested in either team (though rooting for Boston), so no blood pressure spikes!

My bad. The sox 97-65 is a better record than the cards 97-65. Go ahead and run with that logic, bud.

Haha yea ... They both ended up 97-65. It's 0-0 in the playoffs and anything can happen.
May the best team WIN

No more errors please

A best of 5 series now, with the next 3 games in St. Louis starting on Saturday. Some cool weather in the forecast but fortunately no rain.

I'm saying that the red sox had(*) a better record than the cardnals through most of the regular season. Plus the national league ain't poopy when compared to the AL. The sox would of won 2x more than the cards if they were in the NL.. js

At the end of May, cards had won 2 more games than the sox.
...... June, they were tied at 49 wins each
...... July, sox had 1 more win than the cards (and were tied with Tampa)
...... August, sox had one more win than the cards, and Atlanta had 2 more than the sox
....... September, cards and sox had 97 wins each.
So, when was this "most of the season" you speak of? I can't find it in the stats. I'll just assume you're joking with that last sentence since your designated hitter (which the NL doesn't have, your pitcher would have had to bat) contributed so much to those wins.
