Right so my day didn't go as planned, I was augmented to be a cop for half a day so I wasn't able to get the information I wanted from work, BUT..... Here it is anyway. I worked my magic.
![]() Items you should NOT send. - NO pornography or sexually explicit material of any kind. - NO alcohol or any candy containing alcohol. - NO controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, or prescription medication. - NO guns, ammunition, or explosives. - NO pork products. Sorry guys, bacon is out of the question. ![]() All of the above are violations of General Order 1. If you have to ask yourself "will someone get into trouble if I send this" then don't send it. And if you are curious, here is a copy of General Order 1 for your reading pleasure. General Order 1 Now, enough with all them negative waves. Woof Woof!! Things troops like to receive. - Baby Wipes (Combat showers) Sometimes it's all we have for weeks. - Iced Tea, Lemonade, Gatorade, or Crystal Light mix packets to put in bottled water. Bottled water is free and plentiful over there but it gets tiring so it's nice to spice it up a bit. - Girl Scout Cookies or any cookies for that matter but GS ones are a delicacy. - Beef Jerky - Pepperoni or Sausage Sticks. - Ipods or MP3 players (minus a certain gummy bear song) - CD's or DVD's - Candy - Notes and/or cards of thanks or encouragement. - Pictures (Friends or groups of people showing appreciation) No pics with Tiny's bare feet in them either. That's how people get worms ![]() - Ramen Noodles - Special holiday related gifts during holidays. - Cereal bars and granola bars. - Games. (deck of cards or travel games) - Sunflower Seeds. - OTC pain relievers (Tylenol, Advil, Bayer) - Black socks. - Calling Cards. - Prepaid Visa/Mastercard credit cards. - Boot insoles. - Poptarts - Snack Packs (pudding) - Fruit Snacks. - Hygiene products (bar soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush) - Lip Balm - Eye Drops If you want to send a package specifically to Tim you can PM me, Tiny, or Cain for our addresses and we will forward the packages to him. I have a U.S. APO address here so it isn't going to cost any more to ship to me as it would to ship to NY. For general care packages there are a number of websites that offer care package services. You can just google "Care Package". Here are a few. Help the Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan Care Package Project from Marine Parents .com, Inc. SupportOurTroops.org - Home MILITARY MISSIONS, INC. - Beyond the Yellow Ribbon If I missed anything guys, please post it up.

Thanks bud.
Also....think about the other troops over there...you can call any of the Military bases in your area to get info on how to send care packages to the troops deployed from there.

When our daughter did the care package drive for the Marines we shipped the stuff using USPS flat rate boxes, saved a bunch on shipping and you can stuff a butt load of crap in one of those boxes. Just stop by the post office, the boxes are free.

I thought so. I spent some time at Port Who Needs Me aka Port Why Me. I was there for 5 months for tech school.

Guess who dropped me an email today.
![]() Tim's doing good and says "Hi". He doesn't have a mailing address yet because the Army won't give him one so he's working that issue. SO....it is going to be awhile till care packages can be sent.

So I got a PM from Tim today with an address in it. Now those of you who wanted to send him a care package are able to do so. Just send a PM to Tiny or myself and we will give you our address to mail the package to. We will then forward it on to Tim after a brief inspection of the package.

If I might add to this thread -
For the past couple of years, I've been one of the fine webmonkeys keeping the Camp Doha (org) website up and running, which is another website that provides information for troops going over, their families, and supporters, and which also has a care package program. With our program, units have to sign up for it, and supporters have to email for the unit addresses, since we don't post them to the website (security reasons). You can find a list of the units that are currently participating here - http://www.campdoha.org/supporters/unitsupport.htm The unit listings include some general information about the unit, a list of items they specifically want or don't want (if applicable), and sometimes photos they've sent. There are also instructions on how to request an address. We also have a separate site with further information on sending care packages, such as what to send, what not to send, and how to best package and ship items, which can be found here - http://www.campdoha.org/families/carepackages.htm |

Some things my guys love to get when deployed...
DVD's- old movies, new, it doesn't matter Batteries- AA, AAA, and others Magazines- Remember if sending to a unit/squadron there are females, so don't just send guy mags. Books- self improvement, how to's and stuff are great to get SD cards It's the little things you get that make life better when stuck in the sandbox

One of my friends received a care package from people stateside that included a sandcastle building kit. That was his FAVORITE item. They had a lot of fun with that.

Right, so I have a care package going out to Tim in a couple of weeks. If anyone wants to include anything now is the time. PM me for details.
