So I bought a 2008 jk unlimited x with about 55k on the odometer. Two Fridays ago it blew it's motor and left me stranded in the cold for 4 hours. The shop wants $5800 to get a new jasper motor parts and labor included. Should I say screw it and pay it or get rid off my dream car?

How long have you had it? Did you get any kind of warranty? Either way, it sucks that your dream vehicle is putting you through this.

I thought Carmax had a 30-day off-the-lot guarantee CarMax

That's about the only reason I would shop there - you can always beat their prices...

Any updates? Are you within the 30 days? Did you contact Carmax?

Car Max has to wait... I recently fractured my ankle and it didn't heal properly due to poor/no diagnosis. So now I have to have surgery on my left ankle bcuz it didn't heal properly. Anywho the jeep is still dead and I'm looking for a replacement motor and maybe a junker to get me back and forth for now. So sad that I might lose or be screwed with the jeep. I bought it 2/8/13 and it only had 64k on the odometer. Ty for your condolences lol

That really sucks, but on the bright side, now is a great time to do that Hemi Upgrade!

You drove it 9,000 miles since purchasing it at CarMax...so I'd be wary of placing the blame on them.

And apparently 12 months.
So if this is true, what could Carmax have done differently to appease you?
Did you ever address your issues with the dealership?

Yeah, bought 2/8/13, 9K miles later...I'd hardly blame Carmax.

I'm really sorry this happened to you, but placing blame on Carmax is bad form. The only way I'd bring them up into the conversation would be if you bought an extended warranty and they wouldn't stand behind it or something similar.

Again, sorry this happened but hopefully you'll be able to get it sorted out.
