Many of the onew I have seen killed I wouldn't mind having myself... go for a ride through the back lot of some of these dealers.... and a quick scan of the KBB shows a few valued well over 4500.... I am thinking there must be someting majorily wrong with a 2001 V8 Cherokee not to be worth 4500 or even that volvo....

Just think of all those wonderful, earth-saving, trendy Priuses that will now grace the motorways instead of those dinosaurs creating those deadly, choking emissions! Because you know, Americans love to shove in your face what they are doing for the planet anonymously.

The only saving grace I can see is that maybe the large SUV's are falling out of the hands of those self-righteous diva's who like to text, eat, dig through thier purses and apply makeup while doing seventy.

Sure, they're still gonna do it but now (at least for me) they are a smaller target! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA.

This pic raises a serious question... I remember when I was in the military, we had to dispose of batteries a certain way. Hell, by the way the bio-environmental guys talked there was supposedly a very complex procedure for battery recycling that involved midgets and unicorns. Not to mention the mountain of paperwork.

So, when a Prius goes to the salvage yard how do they handle the battery packs?

Cain, shhhhhh! "They" are listening and will come after you, for pointing out their stupidity.

Hey, there are guys in suits surrounding my house.

No thank you, I don't want any cool-aid.
Ouch
I feel funny...

Cain, I denounce you for speaking such blasphemy against the Exalted One's brilliance.

I work in a salvage yard, and I can answer that......we won't TOUCH a hybrid car because of the battery issue. By the time you pay the disposal fee for the battery, you're WAY upside down on the car. They just aren't worth it. So now you have to wonder...what's going to happen to all the priuses in 4 years when their $4000 batteries go bad? Not a single salvage yard around here will TOUCH them.

there's more to this joke...........

My son was looking to buy a Dodge pickup from the same place I bought mine last year, they have these huge internet deals. Mine came in at $14,600 under msrp. Anyway he saw the same deal this year and called them to see if they were doing the "clunkers" deal and they said not yet but that they were working on it.

The week the clunkers deal started they raised their prices $5,000. Now I ask you, who is really getting the rebate ?

I think the biggest problem with the cash for clunkers deal is that you have to buy a new car to qualify for the 4500. Therefore the only people who will get the rebate are those with disposable income while the rest of the country pays taxes to pay for all of these rebates.

I'm fairly certain that most dealers in my area are telling people they have to use the Cash for Clunkers Program if their vehicle qualifies, regardless of whether its worth more than 4500 or not.

I base this on the fact that I saw a couple of vehicles I KNOW where worth more than 4500 on their lots. Something fishy going on, for sure.
