Catfish Fishing

I'm sure there's gotta' be some Jeepers around here that know a thing or two about fishing for catfish, and you're just the people I want to hear from.

Since recently moving onto a lake, I've fancied myself quite the fisherman (I knew nothing about fishing, other than what lures, bait packets, guides, and the internet has taught me.) A couple of weeks ago, and I'm sure it was by accident, I pulled up a Brown Bullhead Catfish. I promptly took it home, and cooked it up (thank you YouTube.)

Tomorrow night I plan on going out and fishing the night away, for catfish. I'd like to hear some suggestions from some other folk familiar with this type of fishing, like bait, hooks, lines? I'll be in a boat, and I know there are several variates of the fish out there. Tomorrow morning I was planning on tossing some chicken liver in garlic salt, which I hear is good bait.

Let's hear some experience!

I went fishing just the other night. I went to Kroger and got 10 pounds of catfish fillets that were raised in the Mississippi Delta. Didn't need no bait or anything, just twenty five dollars and some change. Had to drive two and a half miles though. Life if tough down here in Mississippi.

You can always run a trout line: (depending on where you live, illegal in some states). Line strung out and attached to an anchor with several hooks on chicken liver OR you could go jug fishing: empty milk or Gatorade jugs tied with high strength line or wire tied with hook and liver or gizzards ( also state limited, check regulations OR Catfish Grappling: find a breeding hole, usually by poking around holes on the bank with a broom stick and then sticking your arm in the catfishes mouth and letting it bite you and then pulling it out. Or you could simple get a pole and sink a line with some bait and fish old fashion style
