Caught with your top down....

It's happened to all of us.... It was a beautiful day and the top was off, but then a rain storm came outa nowhere! So you got a free shower. This thread is for sharing your stories of being caught with your top down.

Never been rained on. Always jeep the windows with me and never take the entire top off. Just folded back. Here in FL you never know when its going to rain. Could be sunny as hell and pouring rain at the same time. I have almost gotten caught in a horrible down pour once but I made it to the underpass just before the rain hit so I was able to get the top up and stay dry.

Now I keep a hiking tarp in the jeep. Got caught thursday without windows, though, and it didn't help. The best part is I had em with me, but thought I could get there first. I was very, very wrong. Mountain rains can be a pita.

Two particular times come to mind.

Last year my better half went out with friends. I told her to call if she needed a ride. A couple hours later the call came and of course a freak downpour had started. The only ride was the topless Jeep. Got a shower that night.

A couple months ago I went to the gym and it was a little cloudy but nothing crazy. I got to the gym and about half way through the skies opened up and it started raining like something out of a movie. It rained straight down, sideways, even seemed to rain upside down a little. Got a shower on the way home. At least it was warm out and most of my drive was on the highway. I'm sure people had a chuckle watching me drive home in a downpour with no top and in gym shorts but hey, I was in a Jeep

That reminds me, I need to find a safari top for the Jeep.

I'm new to the Jeep scene so I haven't gotten caught yet........almost did yesterday. Went to work sans doors and windows, just the top up. Wife called and said big thunderstorm coming. I'm only 2 miles from home so the boss said to run home and button everything up. So I run home (skies are looking really dark, wind gusting up) put in the windows and doors, run back to work and guess what................

JeepBeach 2012 at the Daytona Speedway event.
Beautiful day in May, but something told me "keep the top up and doors on".
I was watching the jeeps on the obsticle course in the late afternoon and the wind really started to pick up, you could see a deep purple wall of clouds with the leading edge rolling horizontally. Vender tents were blowing away, people scrambling to get their tops up in 30 mph gusts and then it came down in buckets. I took cover and thanked the Jeep Gods that I not only didn't put the top down but also kept the windows on. Lots of very soggy Jeeps that day.

We don't get a lot of rain here in AZ, but this past fall we got hit with a pretty decent rainstorm and haboob (bad sand storm) at the same time. Came back to the interior & exterior of my Jeep covered in a thin layer of "mud."

Safari top + deckcover and some waterproofing spray for the roll bar pads is all I run all year around.

Wish I could do that here. The summer heat makes going topless in the summer unbearable. (110+ degrees)

Try trudging through a corn field when corn is 8ft tall, pollinating, cutting you up, and the weather is 100+ outside with 100% humidity between the rows. That's pure hell. I didn't buy the jeep to be a slave to the weather, just me

Lol. I don't care how hot or cold it it. If its not raining, then I'm topless.

2 weeks ago I drove to New Jersey. Got stuck in traffic for an hour. The temp was over 95 degrees, and neither me or the girl I was with was complaining. She had a sweatshirt on too.... To keep the sun off....

I've learned that the quickest way to make it quit raining, is to pull over and put the top up. Every time I do, the sun comes out as soon as I'm back on the road. If I had wipers on the inside, I wouldn't even bother.

I really needed some inside wipers yesterday!! Was caught in a rough storm. Stuff was blowing up and flying at me. Drove quickly to a close bank and camped out.

Wife had Jeep at work no doors top down. Unexpected thunder storm that took out trees and power hit. She tried to get top up but was unsuccessful. Enough rain to fill the cup holders, jack storage and top roll out the foot wells when turning. She got home to no power so she and my son started bailing the water. Son was using a turkey baster to empty all the pocket storage places and cup holders. Should of seen the looks on there faces when I showed up, ripped up the rugs and pulled the plugs.

The list is long but distinguished. I have been caught with my top down too many times to count. I just leave the drain plugs out and a couple of garbage bags to cover my seat with for the drive home..

I've been caught many times without my doors and windows but the top is always there so I just throw it up if it pours. I just throw on the defrost to help dry the mist from the inside of the window and I also carry a towel to wipe the dash down too. Gotta love it!

Caught about a week ago when an unexpected thunderstorm came up on the drive home from work. Soaked the interior real good. I expected this would happen at some point since I like to go topless and naked as much as possible. Will most likely happen again... It's a jeep.

So all electrical systems work after getting rained on? Just making sure as I would like to drive in the rain ones.
