Unhappy Charleston fire

I'll tall ya, when we have a disaster here we like them big. Nine firefighters lost their lives last night in a furniture warehouse blaze. It's bad enought we have had 5 police officers killed in the line of duty these past few months. Anyway, a lot og grieving families here today, please keep them in your thoughts.

Thoughts and prayers to the families.
Firefighters are true heroes.

I hate to see fellow firefighters hurt in the line of duty. It breaks my heart to know that they parished doing their job. It is a little know fact that about 100 firefighters die every year here in the US. Europe has about 4 die every year and China had only 1 last year. The worst part about it is this week is "Safety Stand Down Week" . For those of you that are military you know what a stand down is, for you others I will explain. We take a step back and look at the situation because something has gone wrong. this way we can hopefully learn form our mistakes and improve upon them. My prayers go to all of the famlies.

I hate to hear this, firefighters are near and dear to my heart (My grandfather retired from DFD) I tried to get in, after I got out of the Navy, but at that time they had no openings...

My uncle retired from DFD too. Can't remember what year though. He passed away about 10 years ago. I don't remember his rank but be was up there.

That is awful. Both of my sons have gone through Fireman training, and also medic training. It seems like a very hard line of work to get into. Loss of life is always tragic, loosing life while serving others, seems even more tragic. My thoughts go out to the families involved.

Someone here in town made a nice powerpoint presentation with pics from the fire and of the firefighters, how can I post it here to share? Powerful pictures.
