Cain and I drove down to Balboa Park in San Diego. We missed the turn for the Museum of Air and Space, but that little mistake lead us to an amazing walk through the park. The architecture was first to be noticed after we stood at the antique carousel for a few moments watching carved wooden animals chase children in a perpetual circle.
We stopped at the "You are Here" sign and found our way, but took a couple of detours. The botanical garden, the Japanese Friendship garden, the United Nations building and Cottages. It was amazing. Street vendors everywhere, people walking, paths and offshoots leading through manicured lawns and buildings built for an expo to commemorate the opening of the Panama Canal.
It's a beautiful place. If you ever find yourself in San Diego, take a day and visit.
On our way back after strolling through the Air and Space Museum, we walked past a group of people handing out pamphlets and displaying some really hideous pictures stretched across PVC pipe frames. Cain handed me the pamphlet and... I... laughed.
