I brought in some pre-arranged bouquets for the 4th of July. They each had a little American Flag in the center and each little American flag had a little gold sticker on it that read "Made in China". That really sux when even our flags are made in China.

I just picked up my kid. Looked at the tag on her shirt, well damn, she did not come from China but Pakistan. Now she may be on the "No Flight List".

I'd like to buy a case of those Mao Christmas ornaments that I read were on the White House Christmas tree this past year. I'm sure they were made in China. They'd make great targets for my bow.....or maybe my Ruger Single-Six .17 HMR.

My sister was studying in New Zealand for a semester and a bunch of them took a trip to Australia. She bought me an Aussie wallet there. I was looking at the warranty card and it turned out the wallet was made in New Jersey. So lesson of the day, if you want real American made you have to go over seas for it, go figure.

Unfortunately, people always want cheaper and cheaper prices for the items they buy. The only way that can be achieved is by cutting costs. It's WAY cheaper to manufacture in China and ship it here, so the manufacturers can offer cheaper priced goods and still turn a profit. As soon as it's cheaper to build American made stuff than the Chinese stuff, then the balance will shift again. Simple economics at work.

My 2 Renminbi or yuan worth anyway

Too true - was visiting the UK a few years back, and was looking forward to pack of good old fashioned British crisps (potato chips), only thing the petrol station had on the shelf was Kettle Chips, made in my home state of Oregon - sheesh !!

That is why everything is so expensive nowadays. Everything is made in other countries. You will never see something that was made in your own country. With this in mind I remember a quote from the movie 'Armageddon'.

Quote:
Lev Andropov: Components. American components, Russian Components, ALL MADE IN TAIWAN!
- taken from IMDB.com
