Classless fans

after watching the bruins win the cup last night, i was a little concerned that the fan's would get out of control. yes we had a few people go to jail, but nothing was set on fire, no windows broken,
our local news could not belive the way the knucklehead fans behaved after loosing, what a shame the fan's up in canada had to behave, CLASSLESS.

Just because us huskies (UConn) like to burn couches, break windows and side mirrors, and try to roll cars, doesn't mean you have to look down on us...

You know, there are MANY instances of this same thing happening here in the States, and what happens on this continent PALES in comparison to what happens in Europe. Was this post really necessary? Be the bigger man.

Wearing a thong, or going commando, will fix that for you.

Hell, when the Phils won the World Series a couple years ago, we had a riot worse than Vancouver did last night.

I say this with no sarcasm, I <3 Philly. Guess you have to grow up there to get the attachment.

Just watch out, if the Eagles ever win the Superbowl, there won't be much of the city left.

On my local sports radio in AZ they were talking about a list published a couple years ago about the number of people who diied while celebrating Boston's sports teams wins. Turns out most people died while celebrating for the pats. Being a pats fan is dangerous! :-)

I love me some Flyers, but I just am not that attached to their successes or failures to riot about it.

This shoulda been the Flyer's year, but they decided to take a bye in the second round of the playoffs. bah.

I certainly don't condone the rioting either way, but at least they LOST before destroying the town. What I've always failed to understand is the thought process behind rioting after a win .. shouldn't fans be HAPPY instead of angry after winning a championship?!? Crazy ..

They laid down. I'm not in the locker room, but I'd blame a lack of leadership and heart. I'm not fond of Richards as Captain, I'd rather see Briere get it. That guy earns his money during the playoffs and in crunch time. That or Pronger.
Obviously goaltending was a huge problem. I don't care if the defense was bad or not, you don't allow 3 or 4 goals on 8 or 9 shots, and that happened multiple times over the second half of the season and into the playoffs. That said, the defense looked a step behind in every game they lost.

They haven't had good goaltending since Hextall retired. I don't know what they're going to do about it, but they need to do something. It seems, if the Legion of Doom couldn't bring a Cup to the city, the current group probably won't either. Not that they can't just that they won't.

They didn't have a good goaltender before he retired.

A team wins the Cup every year.
A team doesn't lead a playoff series 3-0, lead the game they should have closed the series out with 3-0, then go on to lose the series every year. Some collapses can be legendary, too.
I'm happy for the Bruins, I've always liked them, as I have always liked all Boston area teams. It's the Irish in me.
I'm glad your life has been so enriched to the point of some bizarre sense of superiority by the accomplishments of strangers. You won't get a rise out of me, because sports are sports, not life. It's a little pathetic to get so wrapped up in something you have no control over, don't you think?

Hey, what Hexy may have lacked in talent, he made up for with moxy and sheer, blinding violence.

We've had a few good net-minders come through Philly, but as soon as they get on a slump or get too expensive, they're let go. I liked Biron. I liked Niitymakki (was there when the Phantoms won the Calder Cup). I liked Esche. Solid guys, but not standouts. The problem for years was they were still trying to play like it was the 70's, but they couldn't just push everyone around anymore. The league got faster and more finesse oriented, and it wasn't until Bobby Clarke stepped aside that they started getting with the times. Philly hockey will probably always be physical, but as both Cup teams this year showed, you can be physical, but you have to be fast as well.

Bottom line, Philly is a contender every year. Not many teams put a playoff caliber team on the ice every, single season. We've had ONE losing season in the past 15. Not many teams can claim that.

My originally point was to ask why a certain group of fan’s or hoodlums have to go on a wrecking spree,
It makes the true Canadian fans look bad. Now the real Canadian fans are apologizing to bruin’s fans. (local media reported this) It’s just a shame that in this day and age this nonsense has to go on,

i think its time for the mods to close this thread, before it turn into a pissing contest.

I am not a big hockey fan, but a couple of members here encouraged me to watch games 6 and 7. I really enjoyed the games.
