There is no way that this could ever happen. It is things like this that I am happy there is a system of checks and balances. As for making the laws more strict, I do not see a problem with that. I can carry a gun legally. Increasing the taxes by 500% will never happen it wont pass in congress. Thankfuly there are still republicans left in congress. Banning it completly, is obvious that that will not happen.

These are the reasons it MAY happen. People that don't want to take 2 minutes out of their day to send some emails because it won't effect them or they don't think it could ever happen. Look at what our government has done lately, and look at Obama's voting record on firearms. If you don't think this is in the least bit possible, you are surely mistaken.

Did't they just vote in favor of a 90% tax (regarding AIG bonuses)? A fight against excessive taxation was one of the principles this country was started on, don't think they're going to let a measly Constitution stand in their way of banning guns.

You musn't have heard about not being able to buy a hang gun if you are on the "No-Fly List"? It's gonna happen, and step all over our 2nd Amendment Rights.

mine and obama's home state of illinois, and more specifically chicago actually banned hand guns, they did it, luckily it got overthrown quickly, but it goes to show they can and will do it.

Just look at which states have the most gun laws, CA, NY, IL, DC, ect. It is no mistake that they also have the most crime. In states such as UT, AZ, NV where citizens can arm themselves outside their homes, criminals are afraid, because their prey may be armed. No such luck in the gun control states unless the bad guy trips over an off duty cop.

I say pass laws to arm citizens and Castle Laws (allows home owners to use deadly force against intruders without going to jail or getting sued).

They tried the same thing in Philadelphia, but it was overturned.

This is kinda obvious, that they would put this in place. I think the no-fly list is ridiculous, though. There are some people that should be put on the list, but most of the people shouldn't be on it. My friends 3 year old was on the list.

I am by no means supporting Obama ideals, but there are certain things that will never happen. If Obama somehow gets this passed he will never be re-elected and his popularity will plummet. This is almost like universal healthcare for all will never happen. There are too many people in high places that are against it. The most that will happen is stricter laws will be passed, but there is no way that we will lose the rite to bear arms.

One of our Supreme Court Justices is about to retire. Obama will apoint a liberal; swaying the court back to an anti-gun stance, legislating from the bench. Nancy Pelosi controls the law makers and has the votes to pass anything she wants. She's very anti-gun. Obama is anti-gun.

Just who do you think is going to stop these people? Republicans don't have the power to do anything. The ONLY hope is Blue Dog Democrats from the south standing up to Pelosi and Obama on this. Heaven help us.

By the way...$100 for a box of bullets is as good as banning guns. Obama voted for a 500% tax on ammo in IL.

Well, I guess its a good thing that the judicial system cannot make laws just interpret them.

Don't kid yourself. Our country does not operate on the letter of the law. It works on case law, in other words, the interpitation of those laws by judges. Judges can, and do, legislate from the bench.

ie... It is a violation of the bill of rights to seize your property. However, under eminant domain laws the government can force you to sell your property to you and the price they set and against your will. The supreme court upheld it a few years ago as being legal. Our constitution may hang by a tread in the future.

There is no doubt that our constitution will hang by a thread in the future. That is one of the reasons why I voted against Obama. He has ideas that will never work and shock the system. There is a big chance that it will fail miserably. I was just arguing that there are things in place that will stop laws like this from happening. It will require an ammendment to the constitution which is a huge process and will hit resistance at every step taking way to long for it to happen in this term of Obama's, and he wont be re-elected if he tries this. Anyways I am starting to get buzzed. I cant post in this thread legitemitly anymore. Where is that drunk tank thread ?

Don't hope. The time you spend posting about it is plenty of time to write your congressman. Grassroots guys, take a stand and let it be known. It's all about who's the loudest in this country. Stand up and be heard.

If his plan for the census gets thru, it won't matter what he does, since the voter fraud will be rampant, he will get 25 million more votes than there are registered voters in the next election. Get ready for the first American Emperor, folks, unless people wake up! It might already be too late!

No I love the military, I would be serving if I didn't have a med issue. Maybe I can now, I should go check. I am a demi but the need for guns and military are huge. What if I was a cop am I going to grab my sling shot and hit a robber holding a gun? I love the 2nd Amendment.
