Co-worker doesn't get it...

Looking for some help here. I have a co-worker that just bought his first Jeep, a 2000 Wrangler 4.0 stick. He loves driving it (he is learning how to drive a manual transmission) but refuses to take the soft top off or leave the pavement. How can I get him to see that he is missing out on the reasons to own a Wrangler?

Give him some time to learn how to drive it before sending him off into the wild blue yonder.

But, then again, not everyone owns a Jeep for the same reason. Some people don't go topless ... I don't because I have a hard top and no way to take it off by myself ... *lol* Some people just aren't comfortable taking their ride off road, especially if it's their daily driver / only car / they don't have the money to fix what they break.

He has a daily driver, he bought the Wrangler to be his "weekend toy". Off roading is just not his thing (even on the dunes at Cape Cod) and he won't even come in my vehicle. He doesn't agree with leaving the asphalt. He wants to ditch the soft top for a hard top because now he is worried about vadalism and theft (bery realistic where we live).

^^^ is correct.

I have had my TJ for over a year now and have taken her offroad twice. She is my daily driver so I don't want to break her since I don't have a back up ride.

It took me 5 months before I took my top down. I was scared I would get it down and not be able to get the top back up again. But now I take that sucker down any chance I get. lol

Give your co-worker some time. Show him some videos of what a Jeep can do. He will come around.

yeah, it takes some time... the first time he's out somewhere and thinks about saving some time walking accross a field, or having to take a different route, etc... he'll start to change.

Especially when its a blistering hot day out... he may still be nervous just to do it as to not mess it up. Once he takes it up and down a few times Im sure the mood will change. Let him start passing other jeeps all opened up and he'll start to feel the missing out part. No way to really explain it to him.

Welcome to the Forum!

If you have a topless Jeep.. don't press the issue. Just let him see you having fun with yours.. If he doesn't really ever change.. he may not really be a Jeep guy. Probably be driving a Honda after the first rain storm.
