Coleman Stove

Six weeks from now we'll be camped out, literally in the middle of nowhere. Yesterday we began going through our gear, and to our dismay the old trusty Coleman stove finally crapped out., this old stove has been everywhere with me, since 1978, purchased used at a garage sale for $20.. Coleman markets a lot of,mediocre at best, products and gear, but their stoves and lanterns, albeit a bit old fashioned looking, blow the completion away!! So, off to Cabelas last night to get a new one. $140 for a stove that will, more than likely, outlive me...

I hope you did not toss the old one, for a very few bucks you can get a propane conversion for it and it will live another forty years. Mine crapped out about ten years ago and I converted it to propane. I used until I bought a new one and I gave the old one to my daughter. She is still using it.

Or just by and overhaul kit.

Chances are you just need a new pump cup and the needle jet needs to be cleaned. Old fue varnishes and clogs up the generator tube.

I've overhauled hundreds maybe thousands of those old stoves and lanterns.

The reason Coleman liquid fuel lanterns and 2 burner stoves are so good is they were all build in the USA. The imported crap is just that, disposable.

Thier Witchita Kansas factory still builds lanterns and stoves for the US military to this day. Over 100 years of US labor has gone into those.

I'd give it a good cleaning and keep it for future generations or zombie apocolypse, witchever comes first.
