It’s possible for your body to survive without a surprisingly large fraction of its internal organs. Even if you lose your stomach, your spleen, 75% of your liver, 80% of your intestines, one kidney, one lung, and virtually every organ from your pelvic and groin area, you wouldn’t be very healthy, but you would live.

Most candles are made of petroleum based wax and produce similar chemicals when burned to car exhaust. It is harmful to burn them indoors. Good alternatives are soy wax and beeswax.

In 1835 Richard Lawerence walked up to then President Andrew Jackson at the Capital rotunda and pulled a pistol from his pocket, pointed it at Jackson, and fired. It went bang, but Jackson still stood. As the President raised his cane in anger Lawerence produced a second pistol, pointed it at Jackson, and fired again. It went bang, but again Jackson still stood. As Jackson began to beat his would be assassin with his cane several onlookers tackled Lawerence. He was later aquited in a 1 day trial with less than 10 min of jury deliberation, by reason of insanity. He proclaimed to be the rightful King of England and Rome, and claimed Jackson stood in the way of his rightful Kingdom. The guns were later found to be properly loaded and in perfect working order, but somehow both had misfired.

In 1859 a congressman, Daniel Sickle, shot and killed US District Attorney Phillip Barton Key, whose father was Francis Scott Key, in broad daylight within view of the Whitehouse. Key had been having an affair with Sickles wife, and Sickle too was aquited on grounds of insanity.

Richard Lawerence spent the rest of his life, 26 years, in the crazy house.

Congressman Sickle was released due to the temporary cause of his insanity, and went on to be a Major General in the US Army. He even recieved the Congressional Medal of Honor after losing a leg at Gettysburg.

Cougars are large family members of house cats. Snow leopards are family members of the big cats. This means snow leopards roar, while cougars purr. Ironically, cougars are larger and would likely win 100% of the time.

President Jackson is one of my 5 favorite just based on being a badass. Stories of him are legendary.

In 1778, fashionable women of Paris never went out in blustery weather without a lightning rod attached to their hats

Benjamin Franklin, discoverer/inventor of the lightning rod, never made a dime from it. It was his gift to the world, and it very well may have saved more lives than any other peaceful invention in world history.

He also invented a musical instrument that was essentially crystal wine glasses turned sideways. Franklin named it the Glass Armonica, which was played by wetting ones fingers and holding them on the glasses while they are spun by a handle.

Dr Franklins original Glass Armonica:

Henry Ford's 1st Model T was designed to run on hemp gasoline and was actually built out of hemp.

By the end of WW I, there were 250,000 wounded British soldiers who suffered total or partial amputations.
