Not trying to be a jerk. But there is a difference between a wives tale and a fact. There are people who believe you get a common cold bc not wearing a hat outside or having wet hair. I'm a bit dry and rough. Nothing intentional.

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour

I checked wikipedia and it came up with nothing, so this may or may not be a fact

And as far as your thumb arguement, heres a related funny:

In Huntington WV it was (still is?) legal to beat your wife, so long as it is in public, on Sunday, on the steps of the Courthouse.

Wiki that! HA!

Also a law in SC.

There is a website that list dumb or outdated laws. I don't remember that states but two laws I liked was 1) required to shoot a shotgun 100 feet away from a stop sign 2) men required to carry a shotgun to church

Ha very true. But that's why they gave an average.
The real question is who volunteered for this experiment? And how physically diverse were the test subjects? I think we know the answer on how I intellectually diverse they were.

TX has some funny, funy laws. Like you can beat your wife with an object no... wait for it .... bigger than a THUMB! BaHaHa!

Also in one town you have to fire your pistol in the air while making a uturn on mainstreet in the daytime. I met a man who did once; he spent a night in the clink and 2k$ to prove it was law.

Did he get his $ back?

And had you read the wiki article you'd know why is a law here in most states :-)

Well that makes me think, what if a 2nd party is doing the banging - not in a violent way, just as you would yourself. How significant of a decrease in effeciency of caloric usage could be observed? 50% I say, and so do 39% of people polled.

I think we need to find some test subjects and run a thorough experiment. Too many variables to say its a fact'

Nope.

I typically don't read links in comical threads (not trying to be a smart a55 either).

Fact #1 Stingrays migrated to the center of the Grand Cayman Island when fishermen in the late nineteen hundreds threw out their excess squid while fishing in the bay of water in the island. The area is now known as Stingray Bay.

Fact #2 When born, the White Whale is actually black.

Fact #3 Babys cant taste salt until their 4 months old.

Only 1 in 2,000,000,000 will live to be 116 or older.

The sentence, "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog," uses every letter in the alphabet.

Does that count as a sentence tho? I was under impression it was not, based on definition of a sentence. I could be wrong but thought

Imo, sentence = subject & predicate.

Amen = essentially "God Bless" (so be it, with a conotation of the Lord), with God the subject and his blessing the predicate.

I did not excel at English/Lit in school, in the interest of full disclosure. =)

I think technically a sentence must have a noun and a verb.

So I agree in nature Amen would be bc of context technically jesus wept would be.

The bible also has "what!" And "what then?" Which letter count wise are shorter than Jesus wept but don't meet the definition of a sentence.

No idea if it is actually true or not but once heard that the pen is the most stolen item. It used to be followed by a cigarette lighter being the second most stolen. Judging from the number of pens I go through I would say it may be true.

Makes sense. Easiest to borrow and walk off with. I know I've stolen many and had many stolen.
