Did something stupid

Well today I was working on a 1991 mercury sable and was cleaning the tb and iac and this 3.0l ford v6 has a 2 pieace intake with a built in tb. Well I was spraying some carb cleaner into it and that stupid red straw popped off and flew into the intake. I'm going to try and fish it out. But if I can't By the shape of the intake I don't think it will make it down to the valves. If it did what do you think a plastic straw would do? I might take off the top half of the intake.

sounds like the job for a shop vac? maybe if you cant fish it out you could suck it out. and you're right, it probably shouldnt be able to get down into the valves, but if you've got my luck, somehow it'll manage to get in there. i'd make sure and get it out, just in case. not to mention gas may eat it up over time causing it to form a goo with could turn bad

Didja call him already? I know he doesn't appreciate it when you "volunteer" to bring him places without any warning..

seal all holes and make a hole big enough fro the shopvac to fit over and suck it out. should create a vacuum strong enough to suck that puppy out or at least into a better position for you to grab?

well a valve will likely chomp it into lil bits and then it will vaporize.....Ya might see a slight miss as it works its way thu the valve........Ive seen larger plastic clips hang a valve open.....but these straws are pretty tiny and about as cheap a grade of plastic as exists......Id risk it .....g

I said screw it somebody is coming to buy it tommarow. It was my granfathers and it sat for a few years because he can't drive anymore. So I was just fixin it up a little for the people buying it.

What I did to it.

front rotors and pads.
bleed brakes
oil and filter
cap and rotor
plugs and wires
decarb
clean tb

Runs 100 rimes better now it' a sexy 1991 mercury sable with only 42.000 miles. What a hot car! I think it ate the straw because it ran ruff all of the sudin for a few seconds then whent away and back fired threw the intake.

Heres the straw hungry beast.

I did the exact sme thing to my Toyota Corrolla. no harm no worries, it seemed the heat from the engine melted it in the TB. I was worried but hey what can you do.
