Do you ever get the feeling...

Do you ever get the feeling that you don’t deserve your wife or husband?

This weekend I wheeled at the Y.O. Ranch all day Friday, Saturday & Sunday so I was out of town all weekend… When I got back Sunday Night, after I unloaded my Jeep and grabbed a quick shower I took my wife and daughter to a little neighborhood Italian Restaurant for dinner.

I told my wife I need to take care of a few financial things like paying the May Mortgage and make my Wrangler payment before we could go out and have our official Anniversary Dinner. Yesterday was our wedding anniversary so I left the office a few hours early so we could cook dinner together and get to bed early.

Not too much of a 15th Wedding Anniversary Celebration… This morning when I got up my wife said “I forgot to give you your anniversary gift last night, it’s on the dresser.”

This morning after I got ready for work I had a few minutes to spare so I opened the package it was loaded with a whole bunch of Jeep washing stuff like: a California Car Duster, an Orbital Buffer, a longed handle wheel brush, and a ton of other goodies.

Here is the rub; my wife loved driving my Jeep topless on weekends when it was new and stock. Now that it is lifted and has a ton of mods she does not like it near as much and she seldom drives it. She has never been on a wheeling trip with me and I don’t think she has ever met one of my Wheeling Buddies. She has told me (in jest) “If we ever get divorced she is sure it will be over that Rubicon”.

Besides my Job which keeps me away from home 60 -70 hours a week I make 10 – 12 Wheeling Trips a year, some are 2 day and others are 4 to 5 days including travel time.
Even though, she may not support my Wheeling Obsession she seems to put up with it. Just when I think she’s ready to have my Jeep Towed Off she goes off and dose something like this for me; like buying me a ton of goodies to keep my Jeep looking good between wheeling trips.

It’s this sort of thoughtfulness that has convinced me that sometimes, I just don’t deserve such a wonderful wife. Even though she may not be as supportive of my Jeepin’ passion as I am, she knows it’s important to me and is willing to give me a gift that matters to me not her. I’m the luckiest man alive, how did I pick such a wonderful wife?

Congratulations Greg, on your anniversary!!!!!! I could tell you a story about forgiveness, that would bring tears to your eyes, and how I don't deserve the woman I have either. But this is not about me. Your wife is fantastic because she knows that your Jeep'n is far better an addiction, than other things that could take up your time. You obviously know how to treat her well, and that goes a long way with woman, and their putting up with us men. You at least remember the dates that are important, and some of us have trouble with that one. Keep up the good work Greg, and as long as you know what is really important in life, your family will be behind you every step of the way.

I'm not too good at the gift thing, but I do remember the dates.

Where's the crying smily....man she really sounds like a keeper....especially after 15 years and still puting up with you

Oh and congrats on the 15 years.....it's getting rarer and rarer to see couples make it that far. it's nice to hear people get through the good time as well as the bad times and not give up.
