dog day afternoon

I notice some members have dogs as their avitar and it's probably a pet. Tell us about your pets and/or funny pet stories.

I'll start: I have 2 schizophrenic parakeets ( do they count as pets.....I always thought an animal needed eyebrows to be considered in the "pet" catagory)

100lb yellow lab -Sabrina, rescued from a neighbor that thought she was disposible
30lb shepard collie mix -Chewy (unofficially called the Village Idiot), dumped at an apartment building at 5 weeks old
8lb Chihuahua - Gi (unofficially called Queen Bee), rescued from doggie death row

Ah, well my wife is on the board for the local human society. She is all about rescue. Here's my list.

Sampson - 140 lb Brazillian Mastiff (rescued from death row)
Sally - Small lab mix (Found as a puppy in a plastic bag in a dumpster at Sally's Beauty Supply.)
Zack - Another small lab mix. (Rescued from death row)
Pork Chop - Small Rat Terrier (Rescued from death row)
Boo - Chow mix (Mildly retarded. Didn't open his eyes until he was bearly two months old.
Co Co - Small Rat Terrier (Was made homeless by hurricane Katrina. She had two others with her, but they were adopted. She wasn't, so here she is.)

Three cats (all rescued from death row.)

Sunshine - Ferret (Elderly ferret my wife has had for years. I'm afraid he is getting near the end.)

1 Beagle-
2 minpins-

I guess the funniest thing I have seen from my beagle was one day when I was in the back yard with her. She was on a track with her tail in the air like I had sent her after whatever she was smelling. I started to yell to get her off track but no use. She head butted the fence. Then she sat down and looked at the fence like "where did you come from"

I have male and female miniature schnauzers. Tessa, the female I got as a puppy. Rescued Jett from a disreputable breeder. They are both altered, so no breeding. They absolutely follow me everywhere! Tessa has an obsession with stuffed animals. She carries a lion with her everywhere she goes practically. She will go to the door and want out if she has left the lion in the back yard. I'll let her out and she goes and gets the lion and comes happily back into the house. Jett knows better than to mess with Tessa's toys! I did once see Jett dragging Tessa across the back yard by the lion that was in her mouth!

Found a pic of our three in the jeep at an airshow thought I would throw it up here.
The little brown one on the left was the crippled one we got from the pound he cant stand to long on his hind legs but has no problem playing with the others when he can.

Ironic as it is the yellow Minpin is named Harley also.
And yes I know the bikini top is on backwards, lol it works great to give the dogs some shade.

Toby and the wild donkey are "buddies"; they play tag and tease each other. Donks and dogs do NOT get along unless you're prepared to spend a lot of time working with them and even then it isn't guaranteed to work all that well. But my critters all know the easiest way to get a treat is to make me laugh. This one made me laugh so hard the picture is a little blurry.
