Dog Harness...

My dogs love to ride, but I'm thinking that a harness may be a good idea. Normally I wouldn't care about strapping them in but my chunky pointer/hound dog keeps losing balance and nearly going into the floor board. And then I'm worried my crazy yellow-lab will try to get away with the doors off or topless. Has anyone used them? If so, what brands would you recommend?

Yes. Quadratec or another place like that might have them cheaper or on sale

I'll try to get a pic tomorrow for you. It worked great for Daisy, the wiener dog mix. Hopefully it'll work for my beagle Aston. If not, I'll have to raise his zip line to the roll bars.

I'm getting just the back window set. I have a spiderweb shade that will go on in the summer.

okay, thanks! I'd love to see your setup. I thought about doing something homemade since we already have a "leash harness" that prevents the lab (Sandy) from pulling. I could put that on her, then rig something up to the roll bar... get creative

Maybe rig up a running lead(don't know what they're called) and a short leash?

mine is homemade. I ran some webbing from one side of the tub to the other and attached a spring clip to clip Daisy's harness to. Wait a sec...I think I have picss from the summer at the beach.

Really great ideas! Thanks for all of yalls help. Maybe the safari top will be good while I have the backseat in, and if/when I take it out I can get a setup like Shell has up there... Thanks for the pics, that gives me a good idea. Plus with the seat removed, they could prolly both ride together back there!

Shell your weiner is cute! Mine is a wirehaired, he wasn't mentioned in this thread because my mom won't let him go in the Jeep... she says "Oscar prefers the sedan" refering to her Impala...lol

I attached a picture of him under the blanket

Daisy rides really well in the back. She'll lay down on her pillow and look out the back. Aston ...well, he's all over the place. He has not ridden in the Jeep with the top down and windows off yet. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna hafta get window nets.

he's a cutie. I have a soft spot for wiener dogs. Had one ever since I was 5. Daisy may not be full wiener, but she sure looks & acts like it. & now I'm also a beagle mama, because the hubby wanted one, so we rescued him.

Safari straps work great for dogs with no top or doors. Quadratec does not sell them. I think EAD is the only vendor other than buying direct. I would buy direct. Their customer service is top notch. Stay away from the cheap Smittybilt CRES. It can only go on when the top is down and isn't very strong. Safari straps never need to come off.
