Nope, but Target is (French, actually)

Seriously, I hear people ragging on Wally World all the time because of all the imported (Chinese) junk they sell. Too bad every other discount store sells the same crap. Then, there's the complaint about them running the mom and pop operations out of business. There again, so do all the other large operations (K-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Meijers, etc)

Just picked up a new Bunn coffee maker this morning at Wally's. Made in Creston Iowa. Besides that, what exactly is "Unamerican" about succeeding in business? When manufacturers move production overseas, where exactly are retailers supposed to buy product from?

I hate walmart, but then I hate every store she drags me into. She shops, I buy. I only go into a store to buy something I need. She starts shopping once she's in the door. If we both buy one item, it takes me 15 minutes and her 4 hours. Walmart is no worse than most other retailers, so I don't hate them just because their big, I hate them because she goes there.

Do you understand what happens when a Walmart moves into a small town? It kills off mom and pop stores, the AMERICAN stores left and right because obviously they cannot compete with Walmart's chinese imported product prices. Screw China, screw walmart.

Love it or hate it free enterprise. I do not shop at Walmart because it is not unamerican but I feel I am the only AMERICAN in there. So the country goes. Oh yeah by the way have you noticed at Halloween every body has the same candy? WALMART.

No more so than people who can't capitalize American. I hate going there, but there's really no options other than another big box store.

For the record, the majority of those acts will NOT get you kicked out of Walmart.

Okay. So. Let's all throw away everything we own that isn't made in America. This will be my last post because my iPhone will be in the trash can. Which was probably also made in china. So I'll have to throw away the trash can. And the shirt I'm wearing. And the tv I'm watching.
HOWEVER. I do agree that they come in and hurt small businesses. That is totally true. They also employ a lot of the American workforce.

Obviously, and unfortunately, we need products from overseas - for now. American goods are rising, believe it or not. China won't need us soon, so F them.

I forgot to complain about how they employ people, part time only? No health care or benefits or anything, it's bullshit.

I'm 19 and have a full time job that gives me benefits, why shouldn't everyone, especially when they work for a huge corporation like walmart. It's stupid.

Because to keep prices low (which benefits all of us) they cannot offer full benefits. They DO offer benefits though. That's awesome that you have full benefits ! Why don't we give a walmart employee your job??? I used to dump shit out of bus toilets in the 100 degree heat. Did i have benefits? Nope. And the mom and pop stores that walmart puts out (which I agree is bad) most of them cannot offer health insurance benefits to their employees either.

I dont shop at Wally World or Home Depot or Lowes but not because I feel that there is anything wrong with a company that is successful or because I don't agree with their employment practices. I shop at small stores like my local ace hardware or specialty stores for two reasons. 1) it helps keep the "Mom and Pop" businesses going in my community and, 2) I save money. I hate to shop, but when I get into the big box stores, I tend to buy more than what I need therefore I spend more money. If I go into an appliance store to buy a toaster, I come out with a toaster. If I go to Wal-Mart, I come out with a toaster and an extra hundred dollars worth of junk that I didn't really need.

First off. Rocky has just as much right as you have to be here.
I agree with SOME of your points. BUT I live in an area were it is 45 minutes to a store minus my small local hardware store (which I use constantly and stocks parts just for me) and a small grocery store. So it's easy to stop at one store vs going all over creation.

You know why there aren't more small stores around? Walmart bullied them all away!

Walmart hasn't moved into my town of 2000 people. Weird. It died from the highway bypassing town. So shall I protest using that road ? And as I already stated. I agree that they kill small business.

I tell u first hand as an ex employee that walmart is a he'll hole that preys on the elderly, disabled, and low class for employees. Basicly people desperate for a job that won't complain about how bad they are treated. It's not about the customers or even about the employees. It's about people trying to make themselves look and feel more superior to move up in a cut throat Corp no matter the cost. And the sad part is the so called managers who think they are high and mighty are usually an idiot who didn't finish high school. They pay crappy, their ethics are crap, and it's so cut throat it makes me sick. If I never walk into another walmart I'll be a happy guy.

I'm pretty certain this is where I'm pulling all my information from, I watched something on Walmart in my AP Human Geo class and it opened my eyes.

I shop there but rarely. Occasionally only place to go. When I rented my first place few years ago I needed a plunger at 2am. Only place you can get one.

One reason I hate shopping there is the average customer. Trashy (both trailer park and ghetto. Just depends where ya live). Loud.

Store has 60 checkouts with 3 open. Tight aisles. Store rarely looks presentable.

Compare to target. Just a little more upscale. If lines get long they open new checkouts. Keep it brighter and cleaner. Aisles are wider.

I'll pay $0.85 more for my toothpaste if it means I don't want to kill half the people I'm in store with.

That wasn't what he was saying. I will too. Trust me. And I DO like to shop at target but ours doesn't carry near as much.

I must not have said that right, I HATE to shop, that's why I prefer to go to the smaller stores when I need something. In - out with no browsing.
