Don't like when my wife drives my car......how much will it cost??

Darn it.

My wife, for the second night in a row, has borrowed my Toyota to drive.

She uttered: "Do you think I could drive the Jeep?"

Me: F#$K NO!!!

She: O well, thanks anyway. Maybe in the future?

Me: No way.

Question: My DD and my Jeep are manual. If I do lend her my Jeep or just let her drive my Toyota, how much will repairs cost if she isn't that experienced with manual?

I'm thinking:

Synchros: $ ?

Tranny: $ ?

Clutch: $ ?
Seriously, how badly can my wife freak it up? Are Jeeps durable.

I don't know, my cars are my babies. I think I'm just going to stop the car loaning priveleges. I even offered to drive her myself and wait in the car.

Cliff notes: I don't like it when my wife borrows my car. (She wants to borrow the Jeep but I put a stop to that. Should I worry about it or should I just be greedy and hide the keys?

In all honesty, the does drive manual and she drives it gently. I'm just paranoid. She might mistakenly grind the gears when I'm not looking or hit the curb with my front bumper.

Yeah teach her how to do it right if she doesnt know. Actually that pretty much applies to alot of other things too, but dont just say NO you cant thats not too good is it. 15 mins in a parking lot and she'll be fine.

I trained my son to drive (stick) in a MJ, no problems. My Wife stole my lifted Ranger X cab 4x4. When I took it back, she wrecked the Explorer. I lifted my TJ enough, she can't get into it easily... (I am 6'1", she is 5'1")
She is still wrecking the Ranger (x3)...but she doesn't drive the TJ

I let my girlfriend learn how to drive a manual in my old mustang. She can drive a manual now better then a lot of guys I know and it makes me proud that I taught her. Plus if we go on a long drive somewhere I can make her drive while I sleep. It also makes it very nice that she can drive me home from the bar

My intention when we pay off my wifes patriot is to let her have my present TJ and buy a Rubicon for me. She loves driving my jeep in the summer when i can leave teh top off for her and i hope she will go trail riding with me too.

her driving even badly wont really hurt the stuff anyways, the clutch is meant to be slipped and put in slowly, as long as shes not using it to stay on hills instead of the brakes or anything its fine, as for the synchros and gears, unless shes not putting the clutch all the way in i dont see how it will have nay more wear than when you drive it

but yeah get out there and teach her!

Not to mention that you'll likely not be having any "FUN" anytime soon at home so you'd better really like driving the Jeep.
