Driving Rants

After posting I realized everyone might not be able to see the picture clearly. Starting at 11 oclock, the mph reads 25,25,25,25,35 on the left hand side and 25,35,45,55 on the right hand side.

NEXT

Dear Prius Owners, USE A CRUISE CONTROL!!! Seriously, you CAN get 50 mpg if you quit going down the road doing 55......49........56.......40.......50. Yes I know I get crappy mileage in my YJ but part of the reason is because you can't maintain a set damn speed!

NEXT

Just a helpful tip. If a shallow corner does not have a Safety Sign for mph, it's USUALLY (but not 100% always) a safe bet that you can do the corner at the max speed limit the road is set at. It does NOT mean that you need to slow down to 20 mph to take a corner I safely do in a Semi-Truck at 60 when the speed limit is 55.

NEXT

There I am....the ONLY vehicle within about 1000 yards on the road at noon. Why is it you HAVE to pull out RIGHT in front of me to turn at the next driveway? I'm mean seriously, is there a Fire Sale at the Off Road Center where I can buy the entire store at $1? Please explain in rational terms why it's ok to pull out when I'm 50 ft from you doing 55 mph so you can drive 10 ft to the next driveway and practically stop to make the turn. Someone shooting at you that couldn't let you wait another 3 secs for me to pass?

And move out of the left lane if you aren't passing someone!

LOL no doubt!

Rather vent on here than get Road Rage

And no, I dont work for Odot. But most of the lanes I travel are 2 lane roads without a lot of Passing Zones and gets really irritating

I just happened to run into ALL 4 types yesterday. Couldn't believe it.

The amount of bad drivers on the road is flat out amazing.

I don't understand it- its not that hard to drive a vehicle. Use common sense people.

I despise drivers that don't use merge lanes correctly. For example we have a new overpass that eliminated stop signs and all these drivers continue to stop in the middle of the road rather than ride the lane out and merge when they can. I watched some gal get rear ended because she came to a stop rather than merge.

I don't like the rubbernekkers. Especially when it's on the other side of the road. Why do you need to slow down to see something on the other side of a divided highway?

I live in a town with really bad roads. Its all bumps and holes so it really burns me up when people slow to a crawl to cross the train tracks. the tracks are some of the smoothest parts of the road! Then they speed up into the potholes on the other side of the tracks.

When I drove School Bus you'd be amazed at how many people would stop behind or in front of my bus when I pull COMPLETELY off the road to drop someone off.

The signs clearly states "Unlawful to Pass When R E D Lights Flash (not yellow, not hazard, or NO lights at all!).

I understand some people might be doing to to be safe but they made me even more nervous when they did that lol.

Rule of thumb:
You should not cause someone to hit their brakes because you wanted to pull out. If they have to apply their brakes, you should have waited or pulled out faster.

Oh and my biggest rant:
I like to be a courteous driver, allow folks to pull in front of me or through my lane of traffic and such.
But, I HATE when someone wants to be courteous and allow ONE car to cross or pull out in front all the while holding up several cars behind them. Be aware of your surroundings when being polite.

I think "be polite" would cover almost any traffic situation, but sadly many people can't see past their windshield to be aware of what's going on around them. It's simple stuff, really. Accelerate up to speed when merging into traffic, move out of the left lane when someone wants to pass, get into the turn lane before slowing down, etc...

Ohh man I could go for days on this subject! One of the many things I can stand are when people don't use their turn signals or whenever they cut from the right lane to the left just to make a left turn?
I don't get it
I am extremely courteous of people in front, besides and behind me no matter how fast I need to get somewhere!
I always see people on their phones and I can't stand it especially when their too preoccupied with their phone to realize that the stop light changed and it takes them 15+ seconds to pull out even after a generous honking hahah
One other thing from the many is when people don't even bother to check if there is anyone coming from the right away and they just pull out! It happened to me three times and all were bad, sending me either into the other lane or slamming on my brakes! I'll end this already long rant even if it's not seen it feels great to b***h in writing!

you nailed it. I can't stand seeing people on their phones when driving. It causes so many accidents. Sad to see people so addicted to their phone it's worth risking everyone's life around them to check it. PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY AND DRIVE STUPID!!!might get that in a decal one day.

The worst ones are the people that...
... Pull out in front of you and have a 0-60 of about 2 min.
... Come to a complete dead stop before turning
... Slow down when going downhill, ruining your already poor gas mileage
... And here's a local one, when people slow down for an amish buggy that's in it's own slow lane.
Also, the book i read to take my drivers test said something alone the lines of " you should not interupt the flow of traffic" so i'm thinking these people should get their licenses taken away.

Driving a loaded up truck 60 MPH in a 65. It's a four lane highway. I'm in the #3 lane. Not much traffic at all. Dumbass comes up and rides my ass. After about a mile with him on my ass I let off the gas and drop down to 55. He's still riding my ass. Continue driving 55 for about 10 miles until he takes an exit. Why would you not pass when your exit was 10 miles away? My truck has no tailgate. You'd think it might be a good idea to NOT ride so close behind a truck with no tailgate that may or may not have it's load secured properly (I did but if it was me I wouldn't assume someone else did). I kind of wish I didn't. It would be hilarious to see a 7' olympic barbell fly through their windshield. Some people are just too stupid to procreate. Yet they do it anyways.

LOL aint that the truth. I once had a load in Texas. 2 lane highway and I'm doing 60 in a 55 with a loaded 53' Reefer. Some chick passes me then slows down to 55...wtf.....So I FINALLY get to pass (and you know these semi-trucks...a 3 speed 2.5 can pass us faster :P) anyways I pass her....and keep it at 60. She follows on my ass until the next passing area and she zooms by me and passes then slows to 55 again....wth.....I get another chance to pass and when I get the trailer about halfway past her, she starts to do the same speed I'm doing. I increase speed and by this time I'm doing 70 and she's staying right with me. I see traffic coming and I turn on my Blinker and start slowing down. She slows right with me all the way down to 50 and wont let me over...well not many would approve but I slowly went over on her and forced her ass onto the shoulder. I was sooooo pissed. After that she wouldn't pass or come near the truck

Sounds like its her own damn fault for being stupid.

Another thing that amazes me is people who only care about what their vehicle is doing. People don't look behind them or to the sides and drive like they're the only ones on the road. It is infuriating.

I drove semi in NE hauling grain people just do not respect the size of the rig! They pullout in front, pass and then cut in front, wait last second to signal a turn...you have drive defensively!!

Many of my driving pet peeves have already been mentioned here. One more that I'd like to add are the people who drive with one foot on the gas pedal and apparently the other one on the brake pedal. Their brake lights stay on for a long time after they've started moving and you don't know if they're getting ready to stop again or what.

The left foot should only be used if you have a manual trans. Otherwise, it's just along for the ride.

When driving down the road and I see a car pull up to the intersection I have learned to watch the driver's head.
For the most part, a car coming to a main road, the driver should be looking left. (you know, the first car that would smash him if he pulled out) It's remarkable how many people look first in the other direction.
If I see that driver looking away from me, I am always cautious driving by him.
