Eeeeeeek Mouse!!!

Today I checked my oil for a short day trip into the mountains. While doing so I noticed what looked like grey fur immediately on top of the manifold. I thought what the heck? I looked around the engine compartment and noticed on the drivers side, where the fender is, were palm tree nuts and little black turds. I realized that the "fur" was actually my wool seat cover material, proven by the bald spots. It's all evidence of a mouse living in there. I vacuumed it all out, but no mouse. So it seems that he's been traveling from my interior to the engine compartment and settling in. Fortunately no wires have been chewed as far as I can see.

The question is how could he be living in there if I've been driving it at-least every other day? And where is he now?

What's the most effective way to kill him/them and stop others from coming back to cause major damage?

On the first warm day of spring, several years ago, i started up a tractor that had been sitting outside all winter... with a family of mice living in the fan cage. The immediate surroundings looked like the stage after Gallagher finished with a pound of raw hamburger.

Not sure how that helps your situation, but we didn't have any mice in that tractor for the whole summer!

I had a mouse living in mine several years ago and that was in my daily driver! I almost wrecked when I saw it running around in the floor pan, I just the damn thing was gonna run up my pant leg, luckily it didn't. I set up 2 of the old fashioned snap traps and baited it with cheese, one in the front floor pan and one in the cargo area. The next day the cheese was gone. Great. I put more cheese on and finally caught the little sucker. That's what I would do if I were you. That way you'll know you caught it. If you put out poison, it's liable to die still in the Jeep and you may not be able to find it, only smell it! Yuck!
Happy hunting!
