Elegant-casual?

What does that even mean? I've been roped into going to a Christmas party this weekend, and the invitation said dress was elegant-casual. This sounds like some kind of pinkies-up gig to me...

It's a dressed-up form of casual attire or a played-down form of dressy attire. Like, instead of a full on suit, a sweater-vest with a tie or no tie or a blazer with a button down shirt and no tie. Stuff like that.

Sounds like a pretty ridiculous made up term to me.

I hate parties like this one. I always find myself surrounded by metrosexual "men" that I have absolutely nothing in common with...

Sounds like you've already made up your mind about the party. Screw it. Don't go.

I'm just speaking from experience, lol. I'm going, and I'm going to do my very best to have fun. If I can't have fun, I'll fake it like a champ. She'd do it for me
