Embarrassing vehicles you really like

Well...a friend of mine went out of town for a week and left me his car to drive until he gets back which is what sparked this thread.

What vehicles do you guys really like but hate to admit???

I've always loved the Mini Cooper S with a 6 speed...if i was going to have a small car, this would be it. Love driving this car...only downside to it is that its a convertible which i wouldnt get but still a blast to drive!

The older generation Mazda Miata. Drop in a Ford small block V8, mated to a Tremec 5 speed and it is a poor man's Cobra.

The original VW Beetle. Easy to work on and with the engine in the rear it did pretty well in the snow.

If you have not owned/driven a Dauphine..... you do not know the MEANING of embarrassed........ most under-powered, ugly machine ever sold in the US of A..... and I have owned a litany of them, Vega, Pinto (the v6 was a screamer though).

1970 Cadillac Coup DeVille...

or '65 Eldorado w/ the '70 500cid V8 transplant.

Either one is about 5,000 pounds of sexy wrapped around an 8.2L V8 that put down 550ft/lbs torque at jogging pace (For 1970 only; GM choked it with emission crap from 71-76 until it was a shadow of its former glory).

Lancia Beta Coupe, it would probably rust before I could drive it anywhere but I'd still like to own one.

Haha. My son drives a 91 240.

I'd love to cruise in a CitroŽn DS

I really like my grandma's new Buick regal, does that count as embarrassing? I also really like to drive my dads friends mini s with a 6 speed.

Back in the day, I remember thinking it didn't get much better than the Porsche 944 Turbo. Of course, it is a challenge to drive off road...

I'll also admit that, for a time, I thought the Vehicross was kind of cool in a quasi futuristic sorta way...

I had a Dodge Neon for a commuter car a few years ago. It was like driving a go-kart on rails, pretty quick & it would take about any turn you put it into without any problem. Eventually I got sick of getting up & down off my ass everytime I got in or out of it.

About 12 or so years ago I had a 1996 geo prizm. It was a 5spd manual, was great in the snow, and got a million miles to the gallon. I loved that thing.

I have fond memories of my loaded 1989 Dodge Caravan SE - 2.5 Turbo AND a 5 Speed Stick !

It was super quick off the line and lots of top end and great in the winter with front wheel drive. I wish I still had it - one of those rare collector vehicles. Had to get the tranny rebuilt at one point replacement was not an option because there was only one (1) in all of North America LOL

Last time I saw it was after I donated it with high mileage to a family member for use as a work vehicle and it ended up with bullet holes in it (another story)

I guess I'm a nerd, because I like a lot of oddball cars and I'm not ashamed of any of them.
(My friends might be a little embarrassed for me though)

I've owned:
2 mid-70s Pintos
2 first gen Miatas
2 Suzuki Samurais
Loved them all.

My wife drives a '12 Fiat 500 Sport 5-speed that I try and get my hands on from time to time.
I also have a thing for mid-70s custom vans. Oooooooohhhhhh-Yeeeeaaaaaaagh... LOL!

I have a '06 Prius... yes I said it... (or typed it). I love it... average 49 mpg and even has a pink teddy bear in the windshield my daughter put there when she was 3 and made me swear I would never remove it. She's 10 now and that damn bear is still there lol ... My TJ is my DD, but the prius is there for my long trips.

I had an 86 Pontiac Fiero for a while.. not embarrassed but still not one you see very often. I actually wouldn't mind having an 88 with a Supercharged 3.8V6 in it.

Here's why.

I currently own an '85 Toyota MR2.
It gets called a Fiero all the time.

I want a Mini Countryman. If AEV ever makes a lift and ARB comes out with a bull bumper with a winch mount, I might just have to trade the Subaru.

I'm a huge fan of VW, both air and water cooled. My someday goal is to put a TDI into my TJ.

I always thought a quad-cab Vanagon Synchro pickup would be cool............with a turbocharged Subaru flat-six.

An Audi has style. But, if the price was right, yes, I'd rock the Neon.

Test drove one of these with the wire wheels back in 76. Still wonder what it would be like to own one.
