I just wanted to touch base and post that I'm finally employed again...
I was terminated on the morning of November 6th for some real BS. I was a personal banker and was terminated for giving my tellers referrals to help them meet their goals and to meet the referral goal for the branch as a whole. I had been taught this by my 3 (yes, three) previous branch managers since referrals didnt count for me. I was told to just give them to the teller manager and they would hand them to deserving tellers to help the morale around the branch and just be a team. Well, new manager brought over from Wells Fargo didnt agree and terminated me on the spot...no warning.
So...since then i've been unemployed and have been holding out to get a job i actually want and can turn into a career, not just something to get by.
Last week Monday i interviewed with Nationwide Insurance as a claims adjuster...the next day they called and offered me the job!!! I gladly accepted and then did my drug test and background screen the following day. Results for both screens came back this week Monday and i was given the official offer.
I'm really looking forward to it...no sales - just do my job and go home. Great hours, decent starting pay, great benefits, and great promotional opportunities. My dad did claims for 35 years and loved it so i'm sure that has something to do with my enthusiasm but regardless, cant wait. I start March 3rd.
I also just picked up another vehicle to use as my daily driver and will save the jeep for special occasions and wheeling...the money i save will be put into some mods!
BTW, I never knew such a thing as a personal banker existed.
Thanks man! Haha...i've had about 3.5 months of time off lol. Kinda ran out of money and had to go a bit into my credit line to keep my bills paid on time so it'll be nice to get back at it on the 3rd lol.
Yeah...basically i was the banker at the branch that dealt with all personal accounts and personal loans as well as business accounts but didnt handle business loans.
I also wanna edit when i said "do my job and go home" - i've been used to sales numbers and sales meetings and promotions and contests and just numbers numbers numbers...gonna be nice to just do my job, do it well, and just go home without worrying about stupid numbers.
Congrats. I hope this job is something that you enjoy and look forward to doing each day. It makes life a lot more enjoyable when this is the case.
Thanks, man...completely agree and am looking forward to it for sure!

Glad i held out for something i wanted, as well...
Great news Owen, I was laid off a couple years ago and it really freaked me out. I am sure you are breathing a big sigh of relief to be back in the work force. Best of luck on the new job.
Huge sigh of relief haha...i was happy when i got the initial offer but still on edge until i got the final when the drug and background came back lol.
To expand on that...i actually got this same job offered to me 4 years ago when i lived in Iowa. I was going to move here to Denver to start working in this role. I got the initial offer and then did my drug and background.
I dont do drugs so i didnt care about that one but the prescreen 4 years ago asked "do you have any felonies" to which i answered - no. Well, turns out they also meant misdemeanors so when that came back they withdrew my offer.
The new prescreen just says "crimes other than small traffic violations" so i disclosed it and it came back all good this time around...
Definitely breathing easier lol...i went into debt by about another 3500 over the last 4 months but oh well, i'll knock it out and be alright!! I'm only 27 so i've got a bit
