Final Salute to a WARDOG

My daughter's girl scout troop wanted to attend a Wardog Memorial Service.
The way my daughter explained it I thought we were going to a cemetery to hear the history of the dogs.
Nope, it turned out to be a service for a War Dog, Mina, the bomb sniffing dog.
What a touching service and honor to be there along with many "Vets" and other service dogs. It was a great turn out for the dog and his handler/owner whom you see in the first picture approaching the table that displayed the dogs medals and ribbons.

I'm glad I was able to thank the handler for his service to our great country and to express my saddness for his loss.

That is just the coolest thing that your daughters troop wanted to attend the ceremony.

It's sad the dog had to pay the ultimate price for his country. I'm sure the dog died doing what he loved the most, protecting his master and doing his job. That has got to be a tough loss for the handler. I know how I would feel if my pointer were to die suddenly like that. My prayers go out to the dogs handler.

Coyote, just above the pictures is a Google link I attached, it is a small write up on Mina.
Recently, before retiring, Mina did 9 tours bomb sniffing. Mina died 2 years after retirment at the age of 13. Mina was adopted by his handler from the military. I'm sure Mina lived a great life these last couple of years.

Google Mina the bomb sniffing dog and there will be a couple of articles and pictures. Mina was a black Lab.

Ahh, I didn't click the link as I was doing 4 things at once. Glad to hear Mina made it to retirement and lived a full life. Makes me feel a bit better. Still sad to see a friend go though. I'll read the article here in a few. Thanks.
