Fire Lane

so is it just me or does everyone else get really irritated at people who park in the Fire lane in front of the grocery/walmart/wherever store??

i hate it when people blatantly park where there is "FIRE LANE" "NO PARKING" written right there on the ground and sometimes they even have signs saying no parking.

i went to a firehouse subs and ate in, the entire time i was there, there was a black Honda parked in front of the restaurant. i left and it was still there. granted that parking lot was way full but i found a spot and walked up there... there was a loading zone "no more than 5 min parking" right in front of it and it was half way into the actual lane to drive in front of the store... i even think the idiot was one of the guys eating outside next to the car at one of the tables...

then after work i stopped by the local graocery store (BiLo) and there was a guy sitting in his cherokee waiting for his wife to go get groceries... he was there when i pulled in and parked AT THE FRONT OF THE PARKING LOT and was there when i left. there had to be atleast 10 parking spots less than 20 ft away from where he was parking in the FIRE LANE with a posted sign and there was atleast 2 other cars down the lane from the BiLo in front of other stores with cars parked in the FIRE LANE with almost an entirely empty parking lot...

i mean i understand dropping someone off and picking them up in front of the store so they can run in really quick, but to sit and eat lunch with your car illegally parked and to sit there waiting on people NOT to rush in but just go about their normal business inside the store... cant you park in the parking lot and watch for them to come out, then proceed to pick them up?????

i went from blank stares to "you're an idiot" stares to mumbling things about no parking and fire lane as i walk by them...i think the next time i see someone parked like that im going to straight up talk to them and tell them they are an idiot...

</rant>

what do you guys think... this happens WAY too often in my neck of the woods, people are just too dang lazy and this is "dont get up off your butt to change the channel on the tv because you cant find the remote" kind of lazy stupid shite...

I agree dude. But what pisses me off more is when people leave their dogs on the side of a highway(here's one I rescued). He's 10 months old and is 62 lbs. Akida mix and is very friendly... Extrenemly intelligent to.

Thing I hate most is when people park in the handicapped space just because they drove their handicapped relatives car. Handicapped Fraud just pisses me off.

Lazy turds park there so they "won't get wet" when it's raining. And I come chugging along, top off, doors off and park in a spot and stroll on up. A bit of rain is actually refreshing.

so, yes, I agree. These overly lazy people need to find a parking spot and walk a few extra steps. The extra energy exerted could benefit their big, fat bums.

When i was working with the fire dept. We had a fire in a garage. Pulled up next a hydrant and what did we have? Some one parked there vehicle right in front of the hydrant. Man i was so excited. I always wished someone would park in front of a hydrant. So.....all i could do was take my spanner wrench and knock out this dudes driver side window, and the passenger window. Then we pulled a dirty 2-1/2" fire hose through the windows and hooked it up to the hydrant. When we were all done. This guys car had about 8" of water on the floor, and his dash was a mess. Cops looked at us ans just said. "Good for you guys"

i got to see a fire truck push a car out of the fire lane and into the middle of the road blocking traffic. the best part is that there was no fire, some woman locked her keys in her car at a gas station and in the town i live in the fire department is called to open the door. and her car was on the other side of the parking lot.

wow, that is just messed up!

I would just call the towing company on the car parked there for such a long time. That would teach those lazy a$$ bums. For those that are just standing there, walk up to their windows and tell them to *(&*(^@ move!!!!!!

Oh, I wish I could've been there to see that Castor!

I agree. They are not any better than the rest of us, and it will not kill them to walk the extra 20 feet.

And if the person they are "dropping off" is so bad off they cannot walk into the store from the parking space, then shouldn't the A$$hole sitting in the fire lane go in for them?

I know, I know. That is not the reason, but their logic just pisses me off too!

i enjoy watching the people who spend 10+min driving around the parking lot waiting for a closer space to open up when half the lot is empty. i enjoy starting up my jeep and throwing it into reverse for a couple seconds to see if i can get someone to wait for me to pull out after they have passed me several times already. toss it back into park and walk to class. ooooo they get so pissed!

I see this stuff all the time out here in L.A. area. They have spaces reserved for the elderly at some of the grocery stores and I always see some snot nosed little twerp pull in, hop out and run into the store. My wife says I let too many little things bother me but I hate all the lazy ass_____s who park where they shouldn't as well as leave their stinking shopping cart right in the middle of a parking space because they are too lazy to walk 50 feet and put it in the return rack.

Castorj29, you made my day. I wish I could see the face on the schmuck who owned the car.

On occasion I may stop for a few minutes in one of those fire lanes but I would never park there, thats just asking for a ticket. Maybe to just let a passenger jump out and run inside quick or to load a heavy item.

Here in SoCal (at least Orange County) they are so into revenue enhancement they'll jump on you in a second with a big time fine. Little white pickups with Police logos on the door being driven by teenagers for the sole purpose of writing parking tickets.

I guess this is a good thing for us law abiders, but it seems some schmucks are lining their pockets with that money as our cities go downhill.

Wow, sounds a lot like Backdraft. Never thought a Professional FD would do that in these days and times. Seems like a law suit just waiting to happen. Just because somebody commits a class c misdemeanor doesn't really give the local FD the go ahead to destroy there property unless there is absolutely no other possible way to get water on the fire. I know this would definantly be a tough one to explain to the chief. Just my opinion though. But no disrespect, I wasn't there so who am I to judge.

The class of the ticket or penalty has nothing to do with it. The dumbass who parked in front of a hydrant is now endangering the lives of every single person involved in fighting the fire, rescuing survivors and protecting other property. Every second counts when it comes to fighting a fire and saving peoples lives. Ive been inside burning buildings and homes when water supply was an issue...its a whole new ball game.

Just think about the lawsuit and possible manslaughter charges that could come up if someone died in a fire and the hydrant was inaccessible because someone was parked in front of it, therefore slowing down the hydrant hookup or maybe even stopping it completely.

its against the law for a reason. a professional fireman would do it in a heart beat because thats all the time they have. what are they suppose to do hook up to a different hydrant because some schmuck broke the law? you cant go over the car or under the car either. it is actually common practice to to go through the car if it is blocking a hydrant. no excuse... its the law. cant give out warnings to those people when someones life is in danger...

you may think that its over the top because you saw it in some movie but its in the movie because its the real deal...

and the shopping carts in the middle of the parking lot is ridiculous as well... i hate that

also i hate handicap fraud as well... i always look to see if the person getting out of the car is handicapped because if they arent they shouldnt be parked there... i dont care if its your grandmas car or hand tag... being a human used to mean something... respect for others, the law, and principles...

Parking in a firelane or in front of a hydrant is against the law. If you do, that means you do not value other peoples lives and property. These areas are restricted for safety. Why is this even an argument? It's common sense. Of all the laws to obey, these are some of the most important. If you don't want to curb your dog or want to spit on the sidewalk go ahead and break those laws. I don't think you will endanger too many people. But a civil society cannot survive if common sense laws are poopooed.

Actually that is not fraud and is perfectly acceptable. This is from the MD MVA: "The individual with the disability must be in the vehicle when it is parked in the accessible parking space and they must have their disability certification card to present to any law enforcement officer upon request."

When you have over 32 years in the fire service. You get real tired of people thinking that they can just park and do what ever they want. So think before you act. And yes this did happen in the movie Back Draft. Which is only Hollywood. In So.Calif. This stuff happens everyday,

i think your miss understood him...

KG4KPG said that:"Thing I hate most is when people park in the handicapped space just because they drove their handicapped relatives car"

i believe what you missed was that he was talking about people going to the store in a borrowed vehicle with a hang tag or their own car with a relatives hang tag... the handicapped person is sitting at home, NOT with them in the car, and they are still using the tag to park at the front of the parking lot... thats what i got from it and i see this more often then i see actual handicapped people getting out of the car or sitting in the car for that matter.

I get extremely irritated by this! Especially because I want to be a fire fighter. The people who park their cars their could cost someone their life... little dramatic, but you never know

This reminds me when I was working down in Illinoise for about 4 months. Across from the hotel was a gym and it was funny watching everyone drive around looking for a close parking spot then go inside to walk or run for exercise.
