First REALY SCARY MOVIE

Okay, when I was a kid, we had the Japanese horror flicks, but they were so campy, it was fun. I saw Dr. Phibes, pretty scary. But the first, really scary, movie was Jaws. I lived on a lake, on the back roads were catfish heads on fence posts that were larger than my waist, didn't bother me a bit. Read the book, saw the movie, everytime I opened my eyes under the water, murky, light shafts flowing down, I looked for the big damned fish that was gonna eat me! That really screwed me up for a couple of months! I don't really enjoy horror flicks, endured the first "Nightmare on Elm Street" because I took a couple of friends to the movie, and the one we went to see was sold out. Bad dreams. The timing of the movie was not what i had come to expect, it scared the crap out of me! Vowed never again! Years later, I was in the Reserves, doing my 2 weeks in the area, and took my friends (same ones) to the movie, yup, sold out. What was on? Elm Street #3 (Ithink) the one where the bad guy does the dream invasion. Well, that pretty much screwed my sex life for a couple of weeks! (That tongue thing, wrapping ya up in shackels) That was the worst thing I have ever seen. I have never again watched a scary movie, and since then, I rarely even go to one (a movie). (that was in the 80's, and I have been to maybe, 5? since then) And, oh yeah, the crowd was ghetto, that didn't help at all, with all the screaming and stuff!

My sister and her husband took my brother and I and their kids to a drive in to see The People Under The Stairs. Well, I decided to watch the movie behind us out the back window. Couldn't hear it but it didn't matter. The Exorcist. Nightmares about the devil for months. I think I was 6 or 7. And for you youngin's, google Drive-In and you'll know what it is.

I was in High School in 1975 when Jaws was released.

A couple of buddies of mine with our G/F's ditched school and headed to the beach. Corona Del Mar I think.

Anyway us guys were body surfing and a bit aways out from the shore. There was this lull in the waves so I decided to see how deep the water was. As I was floating down something bit my right foot...the ball of my right foot to be exact.

Well you know what I thought right!! Yep Jaws took off my foot.

So I swam in and hopped onto the shore looked down to see my foot still intact. However there was this red ring about 3 inches in diameter around the ball of my foot. I guess it was some Sea Bass or something that saw the movie Jaws too and wanted in on the action.

Jaws still scares me to this day!

All I watch are horror movies. I haven't really found one that that is scary. Quite a few disturbing ones though.

First one that really scared me was The Shinning. I watch it now and it is not really all that frightening. But when you are in the woods, it is snowing outside and you are around 7 or 8, that is a damn scary movie.

People under the stairs was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. I used to love reading and watching horror. Now I can't stand it. Not sure why. Movies like Jaws are nothing compared to the junk they make today like SAW.

Scary movies don't scare me... but movies like SAW and Hostel I can't watch because of the gore. I can watch any movie but when there is gore like that I get a little disturbed.

The first time I saw the Omen it freaked me out. I was a kid though.

Then again any movie dealing with religion or satanism still gives me an uneasy feeling.

I remember watching the 1st "Alien" movie and I was an adult at the time. The timing in the movie got me to jump several times. The music would build and they would be going through a dark area and the damn cat would jump out. You just start to relaxe a little and then the real strike came. The girl I was dating at the time about tore my shirt off! (oh never mind that was later

Saw I & II I have seen and most of Hostel. I can't watch Hostel. Not because it's scary but watching someone cut off toes makes my UHM...you know...go turtle.

In Syriana when that guy pulls the finger nails off of George Clooney...I can't watch that kiind of stuff.

I don't like scary movies, I never have. When I was a kid, my family would go to the drive-in to see double features. The first feature was a family type movie. When the second feature came on, us kids would climb into the back of the station wagon and I'd burrow down into my sleepingbag and try to go to sleep before the scary music started.
Unless the second feature was a James Bond movie. I liked Sean Connery even then.

Scary books don't bother me. Weird, huh?

The one that really stands out to me is "It's Alive". It was a science fiction/horror flick about a mutant baby that, upon delivery, killed everyone in the delivery room, then went on a bloody rampage from there. I was about 13 or so when it came out. I went and saw the movie with a couple of friends, and one of my friends could scream just like that sucker. For several months after we saw the movie, my friend would hide in the bushes and wait for one of us to walk by... got me every time.
