flooding, Californians check in...

There's some major storms out there in Cali and we aren't done yet. Cain and I are in an area where there isn't much in the way of mudslide danger, but it's flooding. Check in and let us know you're all okay or if you need anything.

It varies here in the SF North bay, we get nothing and then 'BAM" 2" of heavy stuff, but even though I'm at the bottom of a hill, I've got the water flow/drain channeled to the sides of the house and did that years ago

My place in Nevada is under snow, I'll be there soon !!

Ok here in the Inland Empire. Crazy amounts of rain and the normal accidents on the freeway that are to be expected. It's snowing like crazy in Big Bear, so that's kinda cool.

Well, we're weathering the storm pretty well so far.

The neighbors tree broke off but that's about it.

I guess I should add in that a tree actually did blow over in my back yard. Didn't break anything other than the tree itself. S'ok tho, I didn't like that tree anyway

My house is kinda up on a hill but I have a slope behind my patio/pool area that is now puking muddy water into the pool. So while my immediate streets are clear, my backyard is a mess. Heading down the hill this morning surprised me though, several of the streets had at least a foot of water on them & my Toyota barely made it. I almost turned around to get the Jeep until I remembered I have wiring hanging down from my front turn signals for a mod.

It's blowing harder than hell too, we even had some hail this morning and my part of San Diego county isn't up high or east enough for that to be anything but really rare. I don't think I've heard the wind blow as hard as it did around 8:30 this morning.

And yeah, being the outside sales type I am, I have had client meetings this morning so I've been dashing between my car & their offices getting soaked in the process.

As an old guy I knew once said, "It don't rain much around here but when it rains, it POURS".

Edit: P.S. Cain I still love that F-250 you restored in the above pic!

So today is what the 5th straight day of rain? Been a while since I remember having it last for this long. Heading off to home depot to get some wood . . . voices are telling me that I need to build an arc. I'm in Chatsworth . . . nothing major to report . . . the usual flooded streets and whatnot. Pulled my front driveshaft and have been driving around without it and started thinking yesterday . . . it would just be my luck that I'd need 4WD the week that I didn't have my DS in . . . hopefully I'll have a nice new one to install tomorrow!

Looks like we'll be muddin' this weekend. Probably running Rowher on Sat . . . if anybody wants to join in, just hit me up and I'll give you the details! Rowher is out in Santa Clarita (not too far from 6 Flags Majic Mountain). It's usually a pretty easy trail, just steep in some parts, but after this storm, I'd bet it'll be a bit more interesting!!!

Who care's about California? ...we should be helping out the folks in Haiti instead of focusing on our own problems...

/sarcasm

You guys never get a break do you? lol

First people are losing their houses due to droughts and horrible wildfires...then the rain comes and they're losing their houses in mudslides!

I tried that about a month ago on a tire to a John Deere Gator that wouldn't seat no matter what I did...sprayed bout 2 seconds worth of starter fluid in there and using a rod with a flaming paper towel on it, I ignited the starter fluid. Sounded like a freaking bomb going off in my face...blew the patch out of the tire and blew a hole bout the size of my fist in the tire.

...not doing that sh*t again.

Well, to be fair, the news really over plays much of the weather out here. Problem is when you get a bunch of people who are used to driving on dry pavement in sunny weather, it can get hairy on the roads. Plus the fact most towns don't worry much in the way of drainage because most years we don't need it. So when this sort of year rolls around, everything floods.

It is crazy to see some of these amounts of water on flat city streets you just wouldnt think it would flood like that, feet deep in whole neighbor hoods. They showed a whole street of peoples cars that parked in the street and were totaly submerged and they all looked fine but theyre all waisted.

Well fared ok today. Working out in the rain most of it. Whats greayt about being contracted to a water district is being able to go to Canyon Lake dam and watching it over flow. The Lake was about 10 ft. low and now is spilling over. Their island is under water too. Pretty cool though.
Also Lucas Oil offroad track and motorcross track under water. I love this!!

Hell that sounds like one former CA's opinion about these crazies up here in WA. They can't drive when its dry....add a little rain and its freeway bumper cars. Jeez

Bad AT&T service ?

Any one in Cal having poor AT&T service, you have the right to file a complaint with the CPUC, (California Public Utility Commission). We are talking land lines here.

And me? I got you guy's sloppy seconds of that mess!

The wash behind the house (~8ft deep) was just about full last night before the rain let up and turning to snow. we got about 3-4" before it warmed up and it's all melting off pretty fast. No more rain though.

Az you are lucky
we are getting slammed with 70 mph winds and rain is on the way. The Russo and Steele car auctions tent flew off (HUGE tent) and shut down the 101 right next to my house. There is a hurricane warning in Tucson and all I see is black clouds everywhere (and I have to walk home tonight from work. Wish me luck... lol).
