Found a skull

A friend of mine found this skull and we don't know what it may have been. Anybody have any idea?

Agreed. Definitely a chupacabra. To narrow it down further, I'd say a reticulated chupacabra.

If you find an animal missing a head, that's what it's off.

It could be the rare crossbreed of chupacabra and snipe. They are hard to find and generally live about 300 years.

I'm thinking a coyote.

The line pattern on the top is the same as a wolf skull. Has to be some kind of K9 I would think. You can also see where the K9 teeth used to be based on the shape of the sockets. Here is a pic of a coyote skull... same angles, same jaw connection, same holes, etc...

The top line of the muzzle is pretty high, and the cheeks are flared out...not a dog IMO. Something with a wide, triangular head - I'm going to go with a badger.

That's a 'coon head.

Well, I have never seen a Western Reticulated Chubacabra, nor a North American Non-Reticulated Chubacabra, so I can't say it isn't one of those... but it LOOKS just like a common Raccoon.

If you want to make sure, flip it over. Does the palatine bone (roof of mouth) go back all the way from the front, stop near or at the molars, or stop before the molars? Cats (felines) stop before, dogs (canines) stop at, coons stop past. Looks like youre out west though, so I may not be considering some weird animal y'all have. But for certain, the slope is too sharp and the eyes to forward to be a 'dag', too gradual and far back to be a cat.

I thought a ground hog or prarie dog at first, but idt thats is, way wrong head shape when I look at the actual skull comparison. wrong eyes and way wrong teeth/jaw structure.

That's a pretty small skull. Say 4 inches in reference to the pen?

Could be a baby coon, like Blueridge said.

I'm gona keep thinking.

EDIT: small coon. Open eye sockets mean it's a small dog or a racoon I think.
