yes they are exspensive...I had to set a goal of 10,000 to make sure i had the proper equipment and training along with it. I am looking at around 8,000 for the dog.
They are worth every penny...I found a missing child once that made it worth it to me and lots of criminals that run.

i believe they're worth every penny. i just didn't know it was that many pennies. i've worked with a few k9 officers and they love their dogs. i've gotten to see a few in action. amazing.

I had a schnauzer I would have given you a few months back . Surely it would have made a good police dog!

We could all donate dogs and maybe AD could frankenstein a few together to make one big dog. I bet Kat would help. Other than that, I'm at a loss as to fund raising ideas Bill, but good luck to you, it's a great cause.

they do use giant schnauzers they make great police dogs...they just have a lot of upkeep...i prefer the belgian malinois they dont shed very much.
when my last dog BORG was on a bite you would think he was part frakenstein.
I work at a small department with a smaller budget there are only 6 full time employees. we are supposed to have 10 but we are using part time people to fill in the gaps.
I have gotten up the 3,000 on my days off...doing founders day booths by selling boiled peanutz and hotdogs and drinks...pepsi donates the drinks....i have to buy most of the other stuff...i have a bread company that also donates the buns.
I did about 1,200 one day. I had fun though

My two miniature schnauzers put together wouldn't make a very imposing police dog. They could, however love someone to death.

I'm not sure about GA state laws, but have you thought about getting permits for a casino night or a bingo night?

Anyway, good luck!

Maybe get the local schools involved and have car washes or a penny drive for the little kids. (Just make sure you take the dog to the school to visit after you get it. The kids will be really tickled to see the dog they helped you get.)
See if a local Veterinarian will donate pet related services for you to raffle off.
Local pet stores might be willing to donate things for you to raffle off.
If raffles are illegal in your state, maybe you could auction the items off to raise money.

If I think of more things, I'll post them later. Good luck!

i dont know bout carrolton billy, but down here in columbus. slow pitch softball is like religion. and theres always tournaments going on for fundraisers. you'd be surprised how much money you can raise in one weekend. the bigger the better. people around here travel to play. i know of people that have traveled to mississippi. fla. tenn. all over just for some weekend tournament. if you go with this idea. let me know if you need any help getting it together

BW we did a fundraiser for our dept (fire). We wanted to buy a Pub Ed trailer. (this is a trailer that has different things we can show kids and adults about fire saftey) We held a Public saftey expo. We contacted a cpl of local depts, like EMS, police, Sheriff, National Guard, etc.... and held it at a local grocery store parking lot. It just cost the supplies to make signs and such. People saw the need and started donating money. We raised quite a bit(not sure on an excat dollar figure) but it paid for most of it. We did do some door prizes, we just got donations from local stores. Get the publics help and make them aware of how this dog will benefit them. Good Luck
