Game of Thrones

Welcome back Greatest Show on Television.

No disrespect to Thew Walking dead, but I'm so glad Game of Thrones is back.

The Walking Dead thread has seen alot of activity, lets see if we can't get just as many out there interested in GoT.

Two days ago kicked off Season 3. What where your thoughts, comments, feelings?

Though I haven't watched Sunday's episode yet; told the hubby I'd wait until he gets back from Afghanistan (which isn't too far off now ). So I'll probably refrain from checking this thread anymore until after we catch up.

I will say though that I have a love/hate relationship with this series. It's one of the best series I've ever read; however, certain characters/situations in the books pissed me off, and now watching it, I get mad all over again.

Lol I have the books I just can't read for more than a few days a week before I just get bored of it. (Bored of reading in general, not the story)

I have however heard don't get attached to anyone. RIP everyone ever. At least Tyrian is still around, I about spent 7 days in a comatose state when he got his face slit open.

Watched S3E2 last night with the lady friend. A bit too much talking for my likes but it was still a very good episode. Continuing to pick up stories from last season. I'll try and with hold spoilers for those of you who are waiting to start S3.

A few characters are reintroduced, ones we thought lost in the Battle of Blackwater Bay. Some new characters introduced, and a bit of myth / magic is starting to become mainstream. Finally no more 'tales' of magic its actually here now.

Sucks that you all are not watching along.

S3E3 was a bit slow but ended with a BANG. Major clifhanger for the rest of the series really.

We just need to watch last night's episode then we'll be caught up this season. Out of town so using HBO Go to watch.

It's still so funny to me that the show can sum up in one scene what takes Martin an entire chapter in the books. I've decided that I just need to separate the two (series/books) so I don't get too caught up in what's different, what never happened, etc.

Loved the interaction between Jaime and Brienne during their sword fight, and they chose another great actor for Mance.

Show is getting chaotic. Things going nuts beyond the wall, Dany getting ruthless (we all saw that one coming though).

Tyrell's about to rule the world, didn't see that coming.

This show never disappoints. Sunday's episode was awesome, especially Dany's scene (which was tamer than the book).

And yes, we're starting to see that Margaery is a little, well, evil; but I don't mind when Joffrey is the recipient ...

Haha, I know, right? If people didn't know Dany was a, to put it bluntly, BAMF, then they do now.

Martin better get to writing and finish up the book series; HBO is gonna catch up!

Hahaha ... yes. Knowing it was going to happen didn't make watching it any better, either. While I watch this series, and I really do enjoy it, I kind of wish I hadn't read the books already, because it brings up all the hate at Martin again for killing characters I like.

Just know that it gets better, then worse, then better again, then worse, then ...

I watch with someone who has read the books as well...seems jaded. While I'm over here going through emotional blitzkreig all I hear is "psh thats not how the book did it"

I understand things will vary from the book, I guess others don't want them to change? But its almost a different demographic. You have to pull the audience in before you upset them, and up until 2 minute before sh*t hit the fan I could have cared less about 2 of the 3 characters we lossed in that scene.

(trying to to throw in spoilers but hell seems like just you and I here)

Wonder what the consequences will be for the Frey's. Revenge or no, you just made yourself one of the most untrustworthy families in the land. Although you already had the Rep. of "never cross the Freys".

Yeah, I've learned long ago that movies/tv shows based on books can never include everything that the books did, so I try to look at them separately. Especially with the books that I love like this one, as well as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Harry Potter series, etc. There has to be condensing, switching of who did what, etc. for the sake of time, and appealing to those in the audience who haven't read the books. If readers would remember that the TV show is an adaptation of the books, they'd probably enjoy the series/movies more. Just my opinion though.

Back to the story so far, yes, consequences are inevitable in this world, haha. The Frey's, Roose Bolton, Tywin Lannister ... I think my list is longer than Arya's (she is my favorite character, and I can't wait to see her story played out on the screen).

So far, her story just gets better.

BUT, and I'm not sure how much I should say in here w/o giving major spoilers, he hasn't finished writing the book series yet (5 books done, 2 more to go). The current TV series season (3) covers the first half of book 3 (A Storm of Swords). But with how easily he kills off characters I love, that doesn't mean she won't die at some point in those last 2 books.

Poor Arya hasn't really done much at all in this show. Next week we still have alot to wrap up.

-Melisandra / Baratheon Bastard / Onion Knight
-Cersie / Pretty boy floyd (forget his name) are to be married arent they?
-Also what the hell is little finger just gone now? He's too much a conniving man to just sail off into the sunset and be done with.
-Jon Snow picking Crows before Hoes (no offense ladies it just rolls off the tongue)
-Sam and the baby mama drama
-Hopefully Arya but I feel her story may be done for this season.
-Bran and Ricken may get a little more attention. We may follow Osha and Ricken now that the eh hem other story arc has come to a halting stop.

alot to fit in. Did I miss anyone?

i know to me she is the most interesting character and she has been on the back burner most of this season. Robb stark's story was starting to get boring to me anyways, i felt like they were lingering around not doing to much the last 3rd of this season.

im wondering if jon is going to somehow pickup where his brother left off. i also have had the feeling daenerys was going to team up with the starks or the wildlings.

and finally stop killing the wolves they are one of my favorit parts for the show

lol Looks like its up to the Iron Born to take Westeros ... Or the Baratheons. But like you said with Robb, they've been standing around holding their johnsons. Time to make a move.

She hasn't, but everything that has happened to her/her family so far is molding her into something. I'm sure (fingers crossed) the show will do her justice as the books do.

And remember, this season is only 1/2 of the third book, so don't count on there being much "wrapping" up, haha.

Ugh I better not have too many cliff hangers, making me wait 10 damn months for that!

While listening to a podcast at work. They brought up a good point. Someone made it out of the Red Wedding (possibly). Who was the guy who "had to go find a tree to piss on" ?
Was he the ones that had mentioned all season its a waste to march all these men here for a wedding ?

i was right there with you going through "emotional blitzkrieg"! lol

i feel like i got a little lucky though, right before we tuned in to our Game of Thrones recording i had just gone through something just as crazy with the conclusion of the last episode of De Vincis Demons...

anyway, Arya i feel like shes going to become the next baddest ass assassin. killing all the lanisters for what they did to her dad, sister, herself, and her family. i think Dog is going to mentor her somehow...

and JOHN SNOW!!???! i hate that guy so much right now... dude you left your chick while she was fighting for you!!!! for shame

Agreed! I liked John Snow's character but he left his woman in the middle of the warzone and fled like a coward! The fat guy who adopted that woman and kid fought that 'walker' and didn't run away...

This show is the best on tv right now (until Breaking Bad is back from hiatus). Last Ep was a bloodbath!

The show is phenomenal. I'm looking forward to next week's finale, but am in disbelief and frustrated that we're already at the end of another season.

I didn't see things ending well for Robb, but I didn't anticipate things ending then and there. He was one of my favorite characters.
