good move Bama

I understand why his cronies thought it would be best, but dang they HAD to know it would bite Obama in the ass.

Two muslim women barred for fear they might show up in the picture.

Quote:
Two Muslim women at Barack Obama’s rally in Detroit on Monday were barred from sitting behind the podium by campaign volunteers seeking to prevent the women’s headscarves from appearing in photographs or on television with the candidate.
Quote:
That incident began when the volunteer asked Aref’s friend Ali Koussan and two others, Aref’s brother Sharif and another young lawyer, Brandon Edward Miller, whether they would like to sit behind the stage. The three young men said they would but mentioned they were with friends.

The men said the volunteer, a 20-something African-American woman in a green shirt, asked if their friends looked and were dressed like the young men, who were all light-skinned and wearing suits.

Miller said yes but mentioned that one of their friends was wearing a headscarf with her suit.

The volunteer “explained to me that because of the political climate and what’s going on in the world and what’s going on with Muslim Americans, it’s not good for [Aref] to be seen on TV or associated with Obama,” said Koussan, a law student at Wayne State University.

tiny what do you think of our choices for the next president? i am pretty displeased about it all, i have been of legal age to vote for 2 years now. and i gotta say, this blows, i don't necessarily agree with the way voting works either. but i understand completely why that had to happen, what would you think if you saw barak husain oboma standing infornt of a podium with two women in the background with headscarfs...

I think our choices suck. I like McCain, but I'm not sure he's right for the job at hand. And well.... Obama just seems to be awful young. That doesn't negate him from doing the job, but even though I'm trying not to listen to the mud slinging internet crappola (which only seems to be on the dem side) I can't help but think he's not had enough experience to run this country at this juncture.

Barring the two women in headscarfs is a complete 180 from the image of unity he's been trying to present. I know why they did it, I just can't see how they didn't think it wasn't going to end up in the media. Plus, there are other religions where the women cover their hair, so I probably wouldn't even have noticed... expecially since I've been avoiding having to listen to the cannidates for a bit of time. I've reached saturation. They all suck-didly-uck.

heck yeah,i can't help but think that i am growing up in a crappy time, high gas, weak dollar, borderline vietnam-ish war, oober crappy president, although my sisters outlook is to vote for oboma in hopes his running mate will make a good pres, she believes he will be assasinated quickly after elected. so thats that, but i imagine i will vote for McCain

I've voted in every election since I turned 18 though I wasn't always up on the issues at hand. I try to take an honest look at all of the choices, but damn, we got a real shit sammich going on right now.

Since the choices at hand are not so very clear, I've been looking at voting records and stances on issues. No one will ever match my personal choices exactly, but I'd like to vote for the one who comes the closest.

McCain
Obama

well how does this happen then, how is it that no one is ever satisfied with who they vote for, its always the "lesser of two evils" does anyone ever like who the elect or is it like paying taxes, you do it cause you have to not cause you want to. i mean, where the hell do these people even come from!!

I don't believe we've had a patriot run for president in my lifetime. JFK is the first pres I remember. It is all about power and control. Serving the american people is not very high on the list of objectives in our politics anymore.

Right now I'd probably vote for a billy goat with a blackjack as it's running mate.

I've decided to write-in Jimmy Buffett in hopes that the rest of the ParrotHeads nationwide will do the same. Could be alot worse than having Jimmy Buffett as President.........

I thought it said in the Constitution that the president must be "a white male, born in the US."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if this is the case, then why was Hillary and Obama allowed to run for President???

It simply says you must be 35 years old, a legal US citizen, and a resident of teh US for a minimum of 14 years... nothing about race or sex.

Yeah, I hear ya. It would seriously cut into his recording time as well, and we, as ParrotHeads, would suffer from a lack of new JB music.....maybe I need to rethink the "Buffett For President" campaign I've got running around in my head.......

I don't see why Arnie doesn't run then. He's been a citizen since before I was born, and thats at least 20 years.

Article Two Clause 5 of the Constitution:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Arnold is a RINO of the worst order and thankfully not qualified to run for president.

We know this, it would need an amendment, but it could happen the way things are going, everyones so damn afraid to offend anyone these days or be seen to be persecuting a certain race/nationality.
I bet one day we'll see an immigrant as president, wont be me though lol

You mean young, like the fact that he has only spent 143 days in the senate, and thinks the answer to our economy problems is raise taxes? Or the fact that he said he did not mind the gasoline increase, only that it was so sudden?

I am sorry, I am just really really really bitter about BOTH candidates. McCain seems to be coming around, but who really knows if he is just trying to win, or if he is really changing his mind
