I didnt know there was a new one, but I am for sure thinking about getting one. I work with a lot of shoulder surgeons, so being able to stick it on their heads to film a surgery would be a lot better I think than the shoddy overhead camera's they have in the OR which always seem to be obstructed by said surgeons fat head.

I have thought about getting a new one, but I've been so disappointed in the original that I have that I am hesitant. For wheeling it would be fine because my issue is with the audio. On the racetrack all you can hear is static and wind noise. At slower wheeling speeds it should be OK. There are other options with better performance available.

I used to run, err...tried to run, my regular cam corder, but it wouldn't stay running in the truck. The wide angle view of the Go Pro is pretty cool as well, the audio just sucks and the operation is janky.

It's not just mine, they got thousands of complaints. The audio on the originals is so bad they had to put an addendum to the instructions in the box telling you to drill holes in your case so it would work. After that the started shipping them with a second case that wasn't waterproof so the audio was usable when you weren't in the water. The audio on the original was nothing like what you hear on the videos they had on their site. On low sensitivity you hear nothing, on high you get static and wind. They suggest removing the gasket to and trying low, but then all you hear is the case rattling.

The original was horrible. I am very hesitant to give them any more money, especially when there are comparable products out there that are easier to use, have remote controls and easy to use view finders/screens, and are less money.

I'm pleased with my 1080 HD Hero. Here are some videos I've done with it. The sound still leaves something to be desired, but it's not that bad IMO.

Just like ageless said I have the 1080 Hero, and it is great! The controls yeah arent fancy or easy but i use mine for function not for looks. Great picture, eh sound, but overall great product. You can get em on ebay for 230.

BTW there is a video thread under the pictures forums labeled "GoPro HD"

With the new GoPro Hero HD's out, The prices have dropped on the original GoPro Hero's. (everyone wants the new HD's)
The video quality is awesome and by simply getting an extra case and drilling a small hole at the Mic, you can drastically improve the audio and still keep the other case for waterproof needs.

Here's a vid of my GoPro Hero Wide (Non HD) mounted on the dash.
