Donn...yeah, the glassy water stuff really wants to keep you stuck to the surface of the water. Small waves make taking off much easier. When it's glassy water, we'll lift a float out of the water and continue our takeoff on one float. Another option is to do some high-speed step taxiing in large S-turns across our intended takeoff path to create our own waves.

Glassy water really poses a problem when landing since it's just about impossible to determine your height above the surface if the conditions are truly glassy. There is a specific glassy water landing procedure that's different from normal/crosswind/confined water landings. It's ALL fun though.

And thanks! I'm still learning everything this GoPro can do. I'm hoping to do some more editing to put together a more complete video. Gotta start somewhere though, right?

I thought so, our small planes have problems as well so we
Make a few runs to break the glass. Looking forward to more of your videos. Rember as always, taking off is optional, landing is manditory!

Just did my first video on my Mac and I suppose I should have sat through the tutorial, but I didn't. Just the same it turned out sorta ok with only one glaring screw up. I have one segment shown twice.

Jeep test of GoPro Camera - YouTube

This was taken not too far from my business. I took the railroad trail to an arroyo and found the washed out fence and gate repaired in a serious manner and I had to backtrack and take the main roads. Once in the arroyo I found portions destroyed by backhoes removing sand. Still a fun half hour.

Edit:

OK, how do you embed the vid in the post?

Go to YouTube, hit the "share" button. Then I believe there is a place that says "more options." under more options select "long link." copy that link and paste it into the "add link" spot on the forum. I have also had luck just copying and pasting the YouTube long link straight into the comment window and it automatically embedding itself

First GoPro

I mainly wanted to try some camera mount options with this one, shot in my neighborhood. And I wanted to check out the 60 frame per second look. The GoPro is cool.

Getting a Hero2 at the end of this month. I had a hero 1 (no youtube worthy stuff) and the seal cracked on me at 60 feet deep when scuba diving... Note to self.... Make sure you shut the waterproof box ALLLLL the way before diving... not so water proof.

Have you seen any housings that would be acceptable for a technical diver? The housing I have is only rated for 180' of depth and that's almost my first deco stop...so it won't work for me...

Jordan, I wouldn't doubt that the housing would handle more depth without any problems, I think you should do a test and report back on the real depth before implosion, and if possible get that on video.

Technical Diver:
Mixed Gas (tri-mix, heli-ox)...not really Nitrox...that's mainly for recreational divers
Closed Circuit Rebreather
Stage Diving
Extended Duration Decompression Diving
Dive to depths well beyond 300-400 feet
Cave Diving

Wow!! Thats Bad ass!!! How do you like the mixed gas? I assumed when you said technical and deeper than 180 you were talking a sort of gas, couldn't do air that long down that deep.
