Got injured in Afghanistan, now I'm in Germany awaiting surgery...

Yep, just like the title says. Some of you may not know me, but some of you do, and this is just to let those who do know what's going on...
I can't go into specifics (OPSEC) on a public forum, but I can relay the outcome. I shattered my left leg/ankle/foot. It's pretty bad. I'm awaiting surgery here in Landstahl, Germany. There is a possibility that I can catch a flight in the next day or so and get the surgery done in the States. I'm coming back either way, to recuperate. While home, I plan on installing my 3" Full Traction lift, my 1" body lift, and the long travel Old Man Emu shocks I bought from Scout (THANKS, AGAIN, SCOUT!!!) I also have a set of 33" MT Baja Radials to go on the old girl. How's that for rest and recuperation from fighting a war in Afghanistan? Hopefully I'll get through the surgery and all the physical therapy allright and be able to get back to my temporary home in the mountains of Afghanistan. I already miss my team.

Oh man Cavey, I was so pleased to see your name at the bottom of the forum, but to hear you've been injured just broke my heart. I hope you're ok and not in too much pain.

I'm thinking about getting robot legs.....it's a risky operation, but I think it's worth it.........(quote from Grandma's Boy, the movie)

When it first happened, once everything settled down, that movie quote kept running through my mind....

In all seriousness, it could have been WAY worse. I thank God for that! My buddy got shrapnel wounds in his hands and on his neck, so I'm the lucky one of the two....

Glad to see your alive and kicking...at least with the good leg. Seriously, glad you're okay and enjoy the build-up. Take the TJ back with you, everyone knows they are bullit-proof. Roll bar would make a nice rest for the Barrett. Wish I could go with you.

That would be 2 of the 3 most favorite things in the world with me in Afghanistan....my Jeep and my Barrett!! (The R1 would have to stay @ my parents' house, the roads aren't that great for a hyperbike)

Maybe while I'm recuperating I can design/build a mount for the M82A1 on the rollbar..........

By the way, I absolutely appreciate everyone's support, and I love your signature!!!!

On a different note, when I do get back and tear into the old girl, I'll have a 2" budget boost I'll want to get rid of.....if anyone's interested, let me know. I'm sure we can work out a decent price for it......(i.e.---free). Hit me up and I'll see what I can do.

Jordan glad you posted up boss. I've been silently wondering how you were doing over there. I already know how the enemy is doing when you are around. They don't seem to move much.

Glad you are okay and safe.

Wow. I have a lot of friends over seas, and this is something I try to keep in the back of my mind... far far in the back of my mind. So far, the only bad luck any of my friends have had, was one of them got hit by a sniper in the lower side torso. Made it out of recovery, and has a family of his own now.

Anyway, I am very very glade to here you are going to recover well, and were not injured too bad (considering). A big thank you to you and everyone over seas, from my family and friends. You are all ALWAYS in our prays, and in our thoughts at least once a day. Talk to you when you get stateside!! BTW, that Germany hospital, as well as Walter Reed, are the ones that saved my Ex's brother (guy that got hit by a sniper). You are in good hands

Ps. Let me know about that BB.

THANKS for the job you do!

Growing up at Ft Bragg I had family and friends in the military. It is always a great day when you can let everyone know you will be coming home. Hope the surgery/pt go well. I wish we had more people with your attitude and drive serving this country

Sorry to hear about your leg. Hope you can heal up quickly so you can get on that jeep. I am a little jealous though(the job not the injury). I would love to take a Barrett to work everyday. I brings a whole new meaning to "Reach out and touch someone."

Get well quick man

Thanks, everyone, for your support. I got lucky and got manifested on a flight to Andrews Air Force Base. I'm in Ramstein, Germany now, waiting on that flight sometime tomorrow. There's an Orthopedic Surgeon at Fort Riley that's real good from what I hear, and that's where the surgery will be done....so I'm pretty optimistic about a fast recovery. I don't have any bad habits like tobacco usage or heavy drinking, and I'm in good shape (especially for a 34 y/o), so I've got some good things going for me. I'm still hoping to get this physical therapy thing done and get back to Afghanistan. I can't let my little team have all the fun without me!!!

Well, my meds are kicking in, so I'd better go before I start drooling on the keyboard.....just wanted to say thanks for everyone's support, it's heartily appreciated by all of us......
