Exclamation Great Winter Shows 2010

My girlfriend decided to give me an early Christmas gift today.
She got us tickets to the "American Carnage Tour" coming up this winter!
For the first time since the "Clash Of The Titans Tour"
(way back in 1991)
Megadeth, Testament, and Slayer are performing together all on one bill.
Should be ONE HELL OF A BRUTAL SHOW!
What a Good Girl!

So...who's gonna catch this one?

OR....any other good shows this winter?

I'm excited man!
I didn't get to go to the 1991 Clash Of The Titans Show.
This is a great line up of bands to have together.
I've seen Megadeth 6-7 times, and Slayer 4-5 times.
But I was never able to catch Testament live.
So... this should be icing on the cake!
Especially since Testament has Alex Skolnick back.

Why don't' you try to catch the Feb. 4th or 5th show in either Minneapolis or Chicago?

That sounds like fun.
Is this like a OZZFEST type of thing, or are they local bands?

Well it was just Megadeath. I worked security for the show so I got in free. They offer alot of free shows to AF members if we work security for the show.

The American Carnage tour has been postponed until summer 2010.
I guess Tom Araya from Slayer has to have back surgery.

I just tried looking up some info and can't find any right now. I heard it on KBPI the other day though. Me and my gf have seen All That Remains, Lacuna Coil, Rob Zombie, Hatebreed, Born of Osiris and some others in the last 2 months.

Thornton/Westy is a good area, we like it a lot. When ya moving out?!

I've seen him play every year for the past 4 years...lol. I watch Trans-Siberian Orchestra every winter. I like some heavy metal but tend to avoid the live shows...most metal bands I listen to haven't impressed me much from their live videos and I don't want to lose interest in a band because of how unimpressed I was with their live shows. Plus I gotta bad knee and it's hard to stand for so long so I don't catch too many live shows anymore.

Occasionally I'll catch XFest in Dayton, OH put on by the local new rock station...I attended it every year from 2001-2007. Skipped 2008-2009 due to my knee and lack of money. Other than that, I go to a few bar shows every now and then if my friends are playing and I try to catch Trans-Siberian Orchestra every winter...I've had floor seats for the past 3 years.

I'll be seeing Jimmy Buffett in Jacksonville 2/20/10.
Should be a hell of a tailgate!

Yeah...she's a pretty fun chick.
She's also pissed that the show was postponed.

I can't speak for Testament live,
(since I haven't seen them yet)
but Megadeth and Slayer both DELIVER.
If you were a fan of their music,
the live shows would only ADD to your liking.

The greatest live band I've ever seen was Pantera.
I was only able to see them 3 times, but WOW!
They sounded just as good live, if not better, than on their CD's imo.
It's unfortunate that we'll never get to experience them again.

I know what you mean though.
I've been to some shows where the band really sucked live.
Metallica/Motley Crue/Guns & Roses....just to name a few.

i saw g-n-r at the pyramid in memphis, absolutlety horrible, had to be the worst live show i have ever attended in my life, the only thind good about it was matt sorum doing a 20 min drum solo blindfolded. other than that i got screwed when i bought the tickets. one of the best shows though was sucidial tendencies playing in florida one yr. that was awesome.

I agree.
I saw Suicidal Tendencies play with Megadeth back in the early 90's.
They were great man!
Of course they still had Trujillo on Bass at that point, which was awesome.
I have alot of respect for Rob Trujillo.
It's too bad where he ended up.
The only reason I would go to see another Metallica show, is to see HIM play.

Exclamation Great Summer Shows 2010...lol

I guess Tom Araya's back surgery was a success,
as it was just announced today that the American Carnage Tour will now start up in the summer of this year.
The new dates begin in July and continue through early September.
Maybe this will give more people another opportunity to catch this show as I'm sure some people got pissed off, and returned their winter tickets for a refund.
I was almost in that group, and am still up in the air on what exactly I will do, as I already have plans both closely preceding and following the new date in the summer.
Being the metal head that I am, I'll probably try to rearrange things to see this show though.
It's going to be a great one!

Either way, it's nice that these tickets are still being honored rather than flat out canceled.

***On a side note:
Megadeth & Testament are going on tour in March in support of Megadeth's 20th anniversary Rust In Peace album.
(my personal favorite, if I had to choose)
They will be playing every song from Rust In Peace in addition to their older and newer material.
Testament will be playing every song from The Legacy in addition to their newer material.
I've seriously considered dumping the American Carnage tickets to go to this show, as I enjoy Megadeth and Testement more than I do Slayer.
However....it's being held at some small random ass place in the middle of nowhere about 5 hours away,
(in fact...every show for this anniversary tour looks to be that way)
and I'm not sure the quality of the show itself would be as intense of the monster of the American Carnage Venues.
But who knows.......

****OH JEEZE!
I just contacted that little place....AND IT IS LITTLE.
1450 person capacity....WHAT???!!!! That's like a bar show!
I don't know man...it could be really cool to see all of them up that close,
or it could completely blow.

Opinions????

Well.....my girl's bday is coming up soon,
and since she bought us the American Carnage tickets,
I decided to spring for a hotel and these Rust In Piece 20th Anniversary tickets at the smaller venue, as part of her gift.

Hell...I'll try anything once.
It might end up being a better show.
Closer, more personal, and possible better acoustics to this small theater. idk.
And if nothing else...it'll give us a good preview of both Megadeth and Testament for the big show later this summer.
The bonus is getting to see Exodus with them.
I'm not a huge fan of them now because of the front man change up
(I preferred Steve Souza)
...but some of their new music is okay I guess.
Either way, they're heavy and might put on a decent show.

David Ellefson is back with Megadeth!
NOW these shows are REALLY gonna COOK!
Probably the best line-up for Megadeth in 10-12 years IMO.

Now we just need Nick & Marty to come back.
Well...Nick more so than Marty.
