Don’t take the easy way and play with light strings. Just a suggestion. And don't believe anyone that tells you solid-state can sound like tubes. Don't forget the chord theory, and learn to solo without minor notes.

Not good enough for that yet. Although I suppose I could get my way through some chords or basic fingerpicking songs. Amazingly harder then I thought it would be but that's actually what keeps me motivated...Good stuff...

That's awesome. As for which, acoustic/electric, a little of both. Although my main goal is fingerstyle. Joined Jamplay.com about 2 months ago and it's really helping speed the process. They have great videos and instructors, a really well done site.

my gpa was teaching me when i was a kid.. a few buddies of mine taught me how to play a few white stripes songs on a electric guitar a few years back too..

now i limit my guitar playing to rockband and guitar hero =D ever since my cousin borrowed my guitar and NEVER gave it back..

i got an old acoustic guitar but i broke a few strings on it when i was like 14 and never fixed em.. im lazy =D

I tried the guitar, wasn't for me. I stayed with the drums. Been playing for 18 years.

I play acoustic guitar, just chords.
Speaking of instruments, tomorrow I'm finishing making my tank drum, an instrument made of a propane tank.

Why do guitarists put drumsticks on the dash of their car?
So they can park in the handicapped spot.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I started playing a few years back and have gotten to where I can play most songs by chords, and am learning peidmont blues picking and flat picking right now. It's a great feeling when you're starting off the first time you play a song and somebody in the other room says "Hey, that's Dead Flowers by the Rolling Stones!" and it actualy is.

Just got it this afternoon.Traded my Squire HSS for it and some to boot. This guitar has the richest sustain for a lower-end that I've heard.Haven't even tried the clean side yet.
