Happy Jeep Day

To solidify our strong hold and further our quest for global dominance we need our own Holiday. A "Jeep" day if you will. A day that we can all celebrate this thing that has taken over our thoughts and day to day activities. A day for us who cannot go through a day without thinking about our next mod... or weather or not we can climb up that hill or pile of rocks. A day that tells the world this is our day!

...yea I got nothing else. Who's ready to be topless and dirty for a few months.

How bout August 23rd?

Picked the date out of mid air, but would almost guarantee to be good weather!

I've been searching as to when production actually began but have only got the year so far. Check this out.

Yea, July would guarantee nice weather too. Perfect time for the beach buggy season for those of us that live in a state bordering the ocean.

This forum is just diverse enough and spread out enough and probably visits enough other (local, regional, etc...) Jeep forums that we could probably do this...

The birth date of the Jeep would be appropriate. Just need a concrete date.

Hell.... let's do this!

I'm liking this Jeep Day idea.

July is perfect weather, plus my B-day is in July.

make it jeep month, there's other groups that have whole months, so should we. we are misunderstood, and discriminated against. ok maybe that was a stretch, but we could make it work.
more trivia, when the army was taking bids for who would make the "jeep", there were specs that the companies had to follow, there were three companies i believe willy's ford, and one other but i could be wrong. and ford cheated and made the motor bigger, and stronger than the spec, and the army liked it. that's one of the reasons ford got in on the game, also they could produce more. but hey, it turned out good, ford doesn't make jeep now, that's all that matters

It is a Happy Jeep Day for me. Having been in the frozen north for a week, I flew home today to find my sweetness right where I left it, except with a few extra pounds of bird crap. Someone is getting a bath and a drive tomorrow.

i dont think thats true, b/c the reason willys go the contract was that the motor in the fords GPW was a tractor motor and was NOT strong enough,a dn the army loved the power and simplicity of the "go devil engine"

Bantam designed the first one from all I've read. Then when they couldn't supply the Army with enough units the government basically made them share their designs with Willy's Overland and later Ford.

Back on topic... The Bantam being the "first" Jeep, perhaps we should focus on when the first one was built for our date.

Dunno...

That sounds kinda long. How about something shorter like, "July is National Jeep Month. Get Dirty!"
Just a FYI, July is also national baked bean month. http://www.gambino.com/beans/beans.htm (You need sound for this)
