Help me plan spring break

Here's the scenario: Our spring break for the kids this year is early, super early in fact. 2/28-3/7. We were thinking of skiing and/or waterparks with the kids. Then our youngest broke his arm last week which puts both skiing and waterparks out of the question. Little guy is a trooper, he's feeling great and is mostly bummed out that he has to miss the end of hockey and ski season. Now what? Well, on top of it all, we bought our first Jeep last week!

We live in MN. It's fricken freezing out, no sign of warming up. Here's my question to you all: Where can we go, within a reasonable driving distance with our new Jeep to get some warmer weather and maybe take our Jeep off-road where it's intended to go?

Mall of America? Driving the unplowed back roads? That will give your jeep a challenge. I can't think of any place within reasonable driving distance from Minn that's warm this year.

I figured spring break would be canceled because of all the snow days the kids have to make up from this winter.

Well, if you can't beat 'em join 'em right? We decided to embrace the cold and have a vacation in our own backyard. Down to the cities for a night, catch a show at the Dakota Jazz Club, then we'll be headed to Bayfield WI for a couple days to see the ice caves in the Apostle Islands (google them if you have a moment, they're amazing), then we're taking the kids dog-sledding for a day, then maybe a day on the trails with snowmobiles. Then back down Mpls where my wife and I are going to compete at the USA Track & Field MN Indoor Championships!
