Help me understand...

...why people spend 10K on a utility 4x4, another couple on a trailer, when they could buy a used Wrangler for less and do more with it?

cause while jeeps are a hell of a lot of fun, but nothing quite beats being completely open with no roll bar or nothing in front of you and they accelerate nice and quick

First of all, we are not talking about quads. (still, I'd rather have my Jeep than a quad) Utility Vehicles are meant to work, and are marketed to work, and be fun. A Jeep can carry more, go faster than, go over bigger objects, and can tow more, than any Utility Vehicle on the market, plus, Jeeps, are street legal, (no need to trailer to places).

Because, at least where I live, it doesn't have to be licensed, it doesn't have to go through smog, you don't have to pay insurance on it, and there are some trails out here where it fits better. Plus I already have a trailer that one would fit on.

I chose a Wrangler instead, but I liked the idea of the little "golf cart" style utility vehicle - two seats up front, a flat bed for the cooler and the dogs, slowly meandering down a forest road.
