I tried it too. It's like cast iron (or cast steel) like the housing so it's not like surface rust on steel. I am doing the pepsi trick now, covered them with paper towels soaked in pepsi. If it works decently I will do it again a little better.

One of the seniors at school that goes wheeling a lot is at the same place and same time I was yesterday. He knows what happened and mostly likely won't get caught. This is bull shit

Pick up a 96-00 ford explorer, rebuild and regear as needed, buy the flange adapter, figure out if you'll need a sye/ new driveshaft and control arms or not, but the bracket kit. Weld the tubes and bracket kit on while setting your pinion angle. Hook up your brakes. Reassemble completely. Drive.

Said and done 1200 for everything including a tummy tuck. It should cost 1600 for that stuff normally, plus $ if you buy a skid instead of fabbing one. axle kit, drive shaft, sye are the bulk of the cost. of course the skid is a bit expensive. all new brake components and the flange adapter are 230ish as well so those add up.

I will have a LSD axle, a regear, tummy tuck, sye/ds, and all new braking components on that axle, as well as a truss that can be easily set up for a tri 4 link later on.

Also factored into that number (1600) I gave you were the cost for a new front axle and rebuild, at local prices. I plan on doing a hp30. Just the 8.8 itself is only going to cost me 550ish to do. The rest is in parts to run/set it up. 550 covers the axle, gear oil, all new brakes, flange adapter, artec truss kit. etc.

It's not cheap. The cheapest I figured I could do ever would be 300 bucks. everything stock, cheapest bracket kit I could find, and best axle pull price. hope I didn't have vibes considering my suspension height.

Me too, the only thing I wish was that the left side locking latch would unlock both sides, I think the flip latch looked cheesy.

Yeah I keep checking Craigslist for one hoping someone's going to have an old rusted one, but yet, still no luck.

I'm a sophomore and love my jeep my sister have it to me when I turned sixteen and it was rather beaten up. We just bought a new bestop soft top for it and next is new fender flares because mine are faded grey. What are the best fender flares for a cheap price? I have seen the rugged ridge ones for 160 but didn't know if they were good quality. After that I will have to replace the fog lights but soon it will all be worth it because I'll be driving an awesome car!
